Comment:
Russel love birds, he will often forget the material completely and ramble about birds for 20+ min at a time. Powerpoints are virtually useless, but his exams are bearable. He's not funny, but he thinks he's hilarious, so prepare yourself. I've had worse professors, just try to stay awake in class.

Seems to care about the subject and his students. Doesn't follow the PowerPoints in order and so is confusing to follow at times. Tells random stories quite often.

Very smart professor, and almost too smart for the class! He loves to go on rants about something sort of related to the material, then skip through all the actual powerpoint material. Very passionate about biology, just sometimes too sarcastic and over-the-top to learn from.

Bio 115 is a weed out class, so the subject matter is difficult. That being said, he is very passionate about what he teaches, which helps you stay engaged. LOVES BIRDS. will talk about it for hours

He was able to help me understand the concepts behind the class material so that I still remember it after a year has passed.

Dave is a great professor. I took him in a smaller class setting. He teaches in Alaska in the summer (where he bird bands). He is a touch teacher, meaning, yes there is a lot of powerpoint and there is a TON of information. He goes over it all though. If you need help, go to him he will make the time. Very easy going and personable guy.

Nice man but worthless teacher. He spent an entire class period talking about his cat losing its tail, and then another 5 or 6 class periods blowing up and taping together balloons. Powerpoints are 70+ slides and he doesn't go over any of the material, yet you are responsible for knowing every detail. Avoid if possible.

Russell is the man. he truely cares about what he teaches, and makes it understandable. Granted his slides are 70+ slides but if you go to class, he tells you what you can ignore.

I was disappointed with this teacher- if you would rather talk about sports or nonsense then he is your guy. Doesnt go over ANY material in class. I took this same course at a different University and learned WAY MORE, I cant believe Miami wouldnt accept my credit & made me take this class instead, it was a total joke in comparison! Easy A, tho.

He's a really interesting man and a great physiology teacher, though not so good at explaining other concepts. He does waste a LOT of time complaining about how we should study more, making 2nd-grade-style models, and trying to figure out the "clicker" system... Overall, just READ THE BOOK and you'll do fine with his section of the class.

Russell is a great man and great teacher. Class isn't boring whatsoever due to the main focus on current events. It's relatively easy and interesting. Take this class.

He's a nice man and a good teacher, but his exams are impossible and his PowerPoint slide presentations are about 100 pages long for just one lecture. Takes things directly out of the book, but only take this class if you need it for a Zoology major.

This class is very interesting if you actually go to class and listen to what he says. He takes attendance about once every 2 weeks, but it helps your grade. The tests are all over the reading, and a few questions from what he talks about in class. He's a very nice guy and wants you to do well in the class.
