Class was not bad, sans the final. Do the work, multiple times over and your good to go. Challenging but rewarding. Note card for midterm, but 4 quizzes throughout. Drops lowest score for quiz. Take Rystrom for Finance, you will learn!

This class is challenging. if you can pay attention and keep on top of the homework he assigns but, you are not required to turn in, you should be fine. very tough but doable. quizzes are very rushed.

Rystrom is clear teacher but the quizzes are tough. The quizzes are 30 min long so it rushes you. The exams are easier than the quizzes in the way that you have more time and a note sheet. I would have taken a different professor or online if I had to do it again. Other teachers provided note sheets for quizzes

Comment:

David Rystrom is a good professor and an overall good-guy. He throws in spouts of dry humor to alleviate any stress in his lessons throughout his lectures, which is definitely appreciated. His lectures are a little fast paced, but this can be helped by making sure you actually practice problems at home. He's an extremely fair grader.

Comment:

Professor Rystrom's class was one of my favorites this quarter. I would definitely recommend his class. Quizzes and tests are tough but are almost identical to the practice problem sets he hands out so if you put in the time to complete them and ask questions you will do well! Only one homework assignment . Lectures are informative and funny.

I really enjoy Rystrom's humor and lectures. It was an 8:30 class MWF, but he made it bearable. Show up to class or you'll be lost. Quizes are just like the study sheet. Test is tougher than quizes, but he curved it. Overall a challenging, but fun class. Coming from a finance major...

Definitely challenging, but very clear. Makes difficult concepts easy to understand and is hilarious. Four quizzes with lowest one dropped, one homework assignment, a midterm and final. Take Rystrom!

GREAT PROFF! Take fin 341 from Rystrom if possible. He is very clear and makes difficult concepts understandable. His quizes are tough but it pushes you to better understand the material, tests are not too bad and your allowed a note card as a cheat sheet. Great class!

He is a very hard teacher in general, but probably the better for finance. Class is 4 quizzes, worst is dropped, a single hw assignment and a midterm/final. The class is not weighted making it very difficult if you dont do well on everything. He is clear and cracks jokes, but dont let that trick you because his tests have tricks and are very hard.

I took FIN 341/440/444 classes with Dr. Rystrom and I so glad that I did. Go to class and take a good note are highly recommended. His tests are challenge but you allow to have note for midterm and final. Take classes with him if you are in finance major.

Professor Rystrom lectures are crystal clear. He is also extremely helpful in helping students with the book problems, ideas, and preparation for the Quizzes and exam. One of the best Finance instructor at Western. Take Finance 341 with him if you can, you will glad that you did.

One of the best professors I've had at WWU. He structures his class great. It never felt like he was overwhelming us with material during lecture. Reading the book isn't necessary, although be sure to work through the practice problems before quizzes/tests. Also, go to class and take good notes. His tests are really only based off lecture.

Good professor. Not an easy class, but he has a dry sense of humor and makes you want to learn. The quizzes are rushed and difficult, and you must read the textbook. You get notes on the final and midterm, and with a lot of studying you can achieve a good grade and feel like you've earned it. He gives you all the tools, you just need to apply them.

Probably the funniest professor I've ever had; super-dry sense of humor. His instruction is very clear, and he's an engaging speaker, which is good considering lecture is the primary form of instruction. He uses the book a lot and assigns non-mandatory practice problems. Your grade is three out of four quizzes, 3 homeworks, a midterm and a final.

One of the clearest instructors I've ever had, really clear math with focus on TVM formulas. Bond valuations are very common. Read and re-read your text book and you'll be fine. I have made so much money in the stock market from following the EMH teachings. You have to study your statistics and the concepts of central tendency to do well!!

Great class, great professor. I'm glad I took it. Yes, his quizzes are hard, but how else will you learn the material? This is a 300 level class, it's not meant to be easy. And just look at your other options for professors... Rystrom is the best choice!

Terrible Teacher, Quiz's are hard and are practically like tests. He only gives you 30 minutes so it rushes you. If you don't go to class ever day then don't expect to pass. I would reccomend a different teacher.
