Very laid-back professor. Barely any assignments compared to other professors on campus. No textbook just have to go to the two shows the theatre department produces. Easy A.

Dr. Skeele is a very nice guy and the class is super easy if you attend class, but I could not stand to be in art of theatre for an hour and 15 minutes. His tests are all online and two major requirements are to watch 2 plays so it was a very easy class.

Comment:

"Tests" are acting out scenes, as long as you show up, try, be okay with being silly and doing odd things you'll do fine in the class. There is no textbook but you have to attend two plays, they're usually really good, and you can go to more plays, write a one page paper and get extra credit. It's a really easy class, just try in the acting!

Steele is a pretty cool teacher. He is also funny. He has a lot of knowledge. He is very hands on and is really interesting. I wish he gave us more written work to get a better grasp and understanding of the material. He is very big on being on time and attending class. The Theater majors get away with missing class but it's not a big deal

David is a fantastic professor who really knows what he is doing. If you are willing to work and listen he will help you succeed past what you believe you can do. There is never a dull moment and he always makes it interesting. I would recommend taking him if you are remotely interested in theatre.

I was not at all interested in theater before this class. David made the class interesting and very hands on. You don't have to act but participation is encouraged. He makes things interesting and you can tell he loves what he is doing. Attendance is mandatory for a grade. Take good notes and you will pass the online test.

Dr. Skeele makes you purchase a 12 dollar book, but doesn't say you have to purchase $7 tickets to the shows he puts on, also. Lectures are awful. His grading is unclear and he has no form of computer literacy what so ever. Never cancels class.

Intro to Theatre is a giant joke. It's a shame, because Dr. Skeele is very passionate about Theatre and his department, but it unfortunately isn't put to good use in this class. I skipped probably half of the time, and still I got an A. As long as you turn in 75% of the assignments and show up once a week, you will pass.

Lectures all class, rarely has group or class workdemonstrations. He takes attendance and if you fall asleep or catches you on your phone, he will mark you as absent. Apparently his definition of optional means that if you don't do it, you're not getting the points. In-class quizzes & reviews, homework, and online exams. Must go to 2 performances.

Best professor I've ever had at Slippery Rock!!! He made the class extremely easy and there was NEVER a dull moment. He's also really passionate about what he does and teaches. If you have a chance to see something that he directed, DO IT!

I've had David numerous times for class and been in many shows he's directed. He's a bit out there, but knows his stuff. He's a really nice guy and willing to help you out if you're willing to work. Great professor.
