Slaughter explains concepts well and is helpful during office hours. He holds review sessions before exams. The exams are reasonable in difficulty and he's pretty generous with partial credit. You are allowed a handwritten page of notes for exams. Grading is 10% homework, 25% midterm 1, 25% midterm 2, 15% group project, 25% final.

Comment:
After many quarters to refine his teaching, Slaughter has made ENG 106 clear and concise. His class was weighed towards the exams being the majority of your grade, but if you do the practice midterms and HW you will be ready to take them. Definitely show up to class and take notes otherwise learning from the book may be difficult.

Professor Slaughter can be creepy at times and intimidating to approach, but is he is very helpful and a pretty nice guy. EBS75 was my favorite class when I was a second year.

Difficult class. You will put LOTS of work in. Must go to class and take detailed notes. Slaughter is very dedicated to students and very willing to help, puts in just as much work as students. extremely helpful/available through email. tests are long, labs take a LOT of work. very interesting material. office hours are usually a MUST.

Professor Slaughter takes an easy subject and makes it HARD. Definitely study his practice tests and lectures and don't count on the book too much. His class if feasible but only if you make it your world...which I had to in order to get the grade I wanted. Glad the class is over and hope you don't have to take one of his!

This guy is such a dweeb, he talks in this super high naizly voice. On the second day, he introduced the notation we'd be using the whole quarter as if we already knew it, that's where he lost me. Just a horrible experience! Avoid at all costs!

Material is somewhat vauge. Boring Guy but boring subject. Lectures straight from book. Somewhat structured. Labs are pointless and take forever. As do homework.
