Comment:
Professor Sousa is a great professor who knows what he's talking about. He genuinely cares about the subject and teaching. However, he allows his own personal political views to infringe on the class... a lot. His class is intense, and prepare yourself for a lot of reading. If you need help with anything GO SEE HIM at office hours!

Comment:
Professor Sousa is one of the hardest teachers and classes I have ever taken. The amount of work that is required in a 100 level class is absurd and completely unreasonable. While he is a nice guy and seems to care about the subject he teaches I can not recommend the class to anyone. If you do take the class be prepared to spend a huge amount on it

Professor Sousa is a very passionate and intelligent professor, however his classes are anything but easy. Reading is essential and he does call on students randomly, but quickly moves on if you don't know the answer. I have taken many classes with Sousa and he is my advisor so I would recommend challenging yourself and taking one of his classes

Engaging and interesting. Class sessions are dense and move pretty quickly (which is a plus, considering how slowly some PG profs' classes are), and you have to do the readings, but if you're willing to do the work Sousa classes are worthwhile and rewarding. Not a difficult grader, so long as you read the right things and communicate clearly.

Professor Sousa is very passionate and knowledgeable about environmental policy. Get ready to do a lot of reading for homework and be prepared to participate everyday because he will call on you. However, if you do not know the answer he moves on very quickly and there is no embarrassment. Great, but difficult professor!

I came into this class expecting a dull intro to U.S. Government, but I was wrong. Prof. Sousa keeps his class engaged with interesting lectures and he is hilarious to watch. I definitely recommend this class.

Sousa is an amazing professor, however his class isn't easy. Be prepared to do a lot of reading and the tests are difficult. Your grade is based on two tests, a group project, and a series of short essays so you really don't have a lot of room for bad grades. He's really passionate about the subject and makes the class interesting.

Literally foams at the mouth over how much he loves his work. Energetic and a joy to learn from he gives a decent amount of work and if you put in the effort you will get a lot out of this class.

Professor Sousa is awesome! Expect a lot of reading for a 100 level class, but hey its P+G. Sousa gets really into his lectures and he stays on topic for the most part. It is a lot more interesting if you participate. He can be a little intimidating at times but it super nice and understanding. I would highly recommend taking any class for him.

Really great class. Sousa clearly enjoys what he teaches and entertains himself at every turn. His jokes are (hilariously) awful, and he's definitely up for helping students succeed. That being said, don't expect to stay on schedule; The class is fun, but it's not organized. That's good news! Few test, little homework and infrequent reading.

Sousa has a real enthusiasm and depth of knowledge. However, he gives extremely limited feedback (example: "needs improvement"). His upper division course requires extensive reading and perfection on grammar skills. He is not an easy teacher but is fair. The difference between his 101 class and upper division courses is drastic so be prepared.

Great professor. He's extremely energetic and enthusiastic. Once he got so excited that he actually jumped up in the air. He assigns a lot of reading, but you can get by without doing all of it. He's very clear and will help you if you're struggling with something. Grades strictly but fairly.

Sousa is super interesting and a really engaging prof. His tests are clear and easy to pass, he gives you plenty of chances to increase grade and is an honest fair grader. HUGE READING LOAD, and he will assign his own writings which are somewhat dull and unrelated but he takes great pride in his work.

Sousa is very enthusiastic. There is a lot of reading for this class and a quiz on the reading almost every day. But it is still a good class and I would recommend it, especially around election time.

Enthusiastic teacher, but the reading is killer. So much to do, and in the end he only tests you on a few small bits and pieces.

The readings for environmental policy can be boring at times, but Sousa's in class lectures are always pretty interesting. Yes, he is enthusiastic, but definitely a bit disorganized. Don't be afraid to email him. He will answer quickly.
