Teubie is a professor willing to really help students out. Expect a lot of homework. He is very honest with his critique, but you will have improved greatly at the end of the semester. Do not be afraid to ask questions, he will guide you through the process and hopefully make it easier. I would take more classes with him. He is a very good mentor

I've been taking him for 2 semesters now, and all I can say is that he made me suffer the best way possible. Please, expect all-nighter, one-week notice project, harsh critique. He might sounds rough around the edge, but once you prove to him that you are worth a spot in the program, he'll turn into a giant teddy bear.

Teubie was an interesting professor to have. At first, you'd think he is just there to make your life miserable, but he really just is pushing you to your limits because he believes in you. He is brutally honest but that makes it easier to do good work. Outside of class, he will help you out if you're interested. He definitely is a great mentor.

I would NOT recommend taking him. He seems like he's trying to help but is really discouraging instead. Really reconsidered the major because of him. Makes fun of students' work and not pleasant to be around at all

Great class, great proff just dont get intimidated by the big teddy bear. Dont poke the bear, feed it good design and you will be fine. Have fun, give input in class and enjoy his sharing. Dont be a sour puss about his advise, he isnt dictating just trying to help.

Disingenuous and soul-crushing. Teubner attempts to explain his world view through design with all it's lofty possibilities and appears to be a teacher that encourages students...until he goes back on his word and berates students for following directions too literally. He's the main reason the CSULB Design department is losing credence.

Dave's a fun prof no doubt, but he's gives very vague directions for assignments. You usually have to clarify with him multiple times. If I could, I would still take this class with him again. His grading isn't very difficult, though he claims he only accepts perfect craftsmanship. Oh, and don't fall behind!

Just take what you can from the class and try to do what he asks. Get some outside text books to help, his handouts are helpful but a textbook is peace of mind sometimes. (Books on product sketching and page layout) Dont fall behind in work, it quickly piles up. He is an asset.

Every time I take a class with Teubner I want to change majors. He is the first to complain about people saying long beach homogenises design students but he perpetuates it. He says be creative and take chances but if you take too big a chance & don't make things that look like shiny transformers you wont keep your sanity sleep or get a good grade.

I've had Dave a bunch of times, and the farther you go, the more vague his directions are, and harder to satisfy what he wants. Overall very helpful, good source of information and help. Try to stay on his good side else he can be miserable to be around.

I've had dave for both 280 and rapid viz... best teacher I have ever had... ever! he's the reason I'm still at the school. definately take him first for rapid viz... then you'll have the tools to take other teachers your second or third time. He's difficult in a good way. make your life easier by listening to what he says...and then doing only that

Design 331 b Dave is V V V V GOOD instructor and is a true asset to the DEPT.But for some reason he was not his usual nice self this semester.. why ? IDK I hope everything gets back to normal for the new Jrs coming into studio...his class was good and well taught but he was in a bad mood ?????

If you take this class, you will have NO LIFE! But if you want to learn, laugh and become more sarcastic, TAKE THIS CLASS! Teubner is an amazing professor. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Great for both interior and industrial designers. Buy 5 pads of Bristol. Trust me, you might need more.
