He is honestly a kind man who cares about his students, however his grading is exceptionally tough, and he assigns a lot of papers and projects. He's looking for a very specific margin on each assignment, and he won't take anything less. He's a nice man, but a little too heavy-handed.

Professor Walton is fantastic. I would absolutely take his class again. I learned so much from him; for instance, I never knew Shakespeare could be laugh-out-loud funny until this class. I enjoyed Professor Walton so much and would definitely recommend him to anyone.

Professor Walton changed my life. In early 2012, I was but a capricious undeclared undergraduate, meandering through a morass of uncertainty akin to the titular Tempest of Shakespearean fame. Walton metaphorically took me by the hand and guided me through the complications and contrivances of Shakespearean literature. He made me the man that I am.

He is the most vague and senseless prof I've ever had. He doesn't offer a grade break down. Also, he told me to take a part out of a paper and then gave me a bad grade because I didn't have it there and kept the grade even though I showed him the email he sent me. I have a high gpa and have never had problems with any profs before. DON'T TAKE HIM!

Dr. Walton is without a doubt the best professor I've ever had. His was one of the more challenging courses that I've taken, but he made me enjoy every moment of it. He really is a top caliber professor.

Professor Walton is awesome! I'll admit, the class isn't an easy A and sometimes the assignments are challenging. However, he really does have the students' best interest at heart. He's always more than willing to help students and is very accessible. He's pretty funny, so class is enjoyable. You use the book everyday.

He seems to ramble on and not have a real direction. There is not much real instruction besides some general comments. He also becomes angry to any suggestions besides his own. Always a great sign of a professor. ;)

He doesn't follow his syllabus well and becomes angry if you point out what was actually asked. He doesn't give any true writing info. Character arcs, story plots, conflict, etc. He is an old high school grammar teacher who is over paid. If you want to learn how to write, Take another class, if you don't care and want an easy class, take this one.

Nice old man. Very knowledgable in what he teaches but seems to have taught it so many times, he assumes we know what is going on. He is vague with assignments because he wants you to think creatively. Likes to get out of class as much as possible and brings in apples. GREAT PROFESSOR!! Made me decide to pursue a writing certificate.

He is very helpful and approachable. Class is engaging and goes by quickly. He is very critical, but you will definitely improve your writing. Very difficult to earn an A: I received an A- even though I always participated and my lowest paper was only a B+. However, I recommend this prof b/c I learned a lot.

Fantastic professor. Funny, engaging and eccentric, but also thoughtful, clear and extremely helpful. Really cares about his students and encourages outside the box thinking. I wish I had time to take another class with him.

He brought us apples and played happy birthday to people on his harmonica. Plus, he really knows Shakespeare and makes the plays very accessible to students who haven't read much of his work before.

Made me look forward to the first class of the day. Involves all students, even those who don't really know/care much about Shakespeare, is very encouraging, and shows films every now and then that are productions of or relate to the plays. I really enjoyed having this professor. P.S. He sometimes plays his harmonica in class...love it.

Funny professor. Nice guy with lots of Hawaiian shirts. Keeps class rolling with a discussion atmosphere, and very open/encouraging attitude toward students. Lots of reading from the text, and everything analyzed well in class. As long as you're not asleep the whole semester, you will do fine in Intro to Shakespeare.
