Comment:

Dr. Ward is a very difficult professor. He is a tough grader and expects perfection. Writing assignments were difficult but he is easy when it comes to speeches. At the beginning of the year, he seems to be demanding but he lightens up later on. Lecture usually have nothing to do with what is going on in the class though.

Without exaggeration, Dr. Ward is the greatest asset to UPJ's English department: he's erudite, challenging, and hilarious. People who complain about him simply couldn't handle his (moderately) challenging writing assignments. I'm so sick of the groveling on this website! If you can't handle intellectually rigorous classes, go to Penn Highlands.

DONT EVER TAKE THIS PROF. He is the meanest one i have ever had in school. He actually made a kid do jumping jacks in front of the whole class for dozing. Hes completely unclear for papers and no matter what you write its not good enough. Same way with speeches. He rambles about pointless things and grades too hard, everyone complained in my class.

Dr. Ward definitely gets an undeserved bad reputation: he isn't as mean or difficult as he originally appears! I really enjoyed his class as a whole; he knows what he's talking about. If you think you can BS a paper for him, you're doomed. Dr. Ward won't tolerate idiocy. If you want to be challenged, take him.

Listen, Dr. Ward really isn't as bad as people make him out to be. If you go to class and PAY ATTENTION, you'll be fine. Take notes, as they are key to doing well on a paper. He's a fair grader in my opinion. I ended up with an A in the class, even though I skipped the consultation. Give him a try.

Lets be honest here... This guy didn't help at all. I went to him for help on a paper... he fixed it for me, then gave me a B when i turned in HIS WORK. But its very challenging. I never struggled in writing until this class.

Dr. Ward comes off as strict and tough but he really is a nice guy..and he knows his stuff..good prof. He helped me with my resume when it came time to apply for jobs at graduation..he helped me pull together a great resume!! oh-ask him about being kicked out of the state of oklahoma!!

A writing class on films...thought it would be fun. Wrong. Ward is a very intelligent and interesting man outside class. Otherwise, he doesn't really help on papers and when he does...still gives bad grades. I never got higher than a C...not even a C- or +. A C, the whole year, even though papers always got better.
