I've got the hat trick for all three of his classes and enjoyed all of them. All his classes are reading and discussion intensive. Readings are from the real sources, not a pansy text book. If you like the idea of the Great Books form of education than this is the class/teacher for you.

Prepare to be challenged. He knows his stuff, and he will make you participate. There is no way to slack off in this class, although there are no tests or papers, this is the hardest class I have taken.

Dayne is really a fantastic techer. His class is challenging, but if you put in good effort he will give you an A. Participate, do the reading, ask tough questions...you'll be rewarded. He is extremely knowledgable and is passionate about teaching. Take anything he teaches!

I first took "Philosophic Issues in Film" with Dayne and had to take another one of his courses. He's enthusiastic about what he teaches and he knows what he's talking about. Besides, the homework generally is just reading with a few, easy quizzes. If you want an A, speak up in class once or twice a week.
