Comment:

Amazing and fun teacher, made class interesting and math easy. He's getting booted from UNI this year so he won't teach anymore. He even juggled on the last day of class. Homework wasn't collected, but helped to do it. Tests were relevant to what he taught. Quizzes were easy. I wish Dean good luck on his professional juggling career.

Comment:

Prof. Franzen really wants his students to be successful. He is very easygoing, but he gets stuff done in the classroom. Everything he does on the board is worth paying attention to, and his homework assignments, while optional, are beneficial. It isn't a huge deal if you miss his class because he always reviews the homework from the day before.

I honestly don't know what I would do if I didn't take stats with Dean! I am awful at math, but he does a great job at explaining. He is super nice, and is always willing to help you. If you go to him for extra help, he literally will tell you what is on exams, and will give you pretty much identical practice problems to the exam.

If you need to take precalculus, take it with Dean. His lectures make everything easy to follow, but if you miss class, make sure to double-check what you missed as there are weekly quizzes.

If you are planning on taking Intro to Stats take it with Dean. He is very clear in lecture and straight out tells you what questions will be on the test. He grades easy and is generally a pleasant guy. Bottom line, you NEED to take Stats with Dean Franzen if you want a good grade in Stats in general.

Awesome professor who wants all of his students to succeed. Gives very thorough lectures and goes over a lot of examples. Assigns optional homework just to help you understand. He's very funny and an easy grader test grader. Even gives you all formulas. I skipped class a lot of am bad at math and still did okay. He's also a travelling juggler!! :)

Best math professor I've ever had. Super funny guy and loves to work through examples with the class. Assigns homework a lot but it isn't mandatory, just to help you understand what he talks about in class. Grades easy and has numerous quizzes to help boost your grade. Tests aren't bad as long as you try to learn the material. Take stats with him!

This class is pretty easy. Only problem is if you skip class a lot (like I did). I still got a B, so obviously not a huge deal if you miss. Grades on a nice curve, so the C range is wide if I remember correctly.

Took Stats and Trig with Dean and got an A both times. He's way laid back and explains things logically, plus he's always willing to answer questions - even gives the class his personal cell phone number. If you have a chance to take him for any type of math class, do it!

I took his class last spring. Take pre-calc with Dean! His class is great. He is a very easy teacher. He goes through all the material in class. You have weekly quizzes. The tests are not too bad. Homework problems are suggested, but not graded. He is a very funny guy!

Great professor! Knows what he is talking about, makes the material bearable for the students. 3 Exams over the semester and a cumulative final, but nothing to worry about. Assigns homework but it is optional. Exams are not difficult. Definitely recommend!!

He was a very good teacher. Very nice and helpful. He understand students life's and makes things easier for you. 3 point Quiz everyday, which takes your attendance... that was one bad thing about the class. Make sure you do the homework so you can get points on the quiz the next day.

Dean is a good teacher, and a good person. He understands the student's point of view and bases his tests on it. Homework is not graded or collected but it's the best way to understand the material. Tests, with review, are not too difficult. Weekly quiz on thursdays which he tells you what to study for the day before. Let us out early every day.
