Comment:
She is incredibly intelligent, but looks down on students that aren't as intelligent as she is (which is most of us, as she has her PhD and we're undergrads). She looks down on students that ask questions that she doesn't think are intelligent. That said, she was quite fair with deadlines and I felt my grade was fair.

She is actually one of the worst teachers ever. Some people like her, but the honest truth is that she is very selective and cruel. If you ask for help, she will get angry/upset and tell you to find the answer yourself. She makes the class more difficult than it really is. Try to get a different professor. Her husband is MUCH better at his job.

This teacher is the reason I no longer take bio in Ursinus. I once asked for help involving a homework question and she snarled at me and told me to look online. This teacher is the reason 50% of students leave the premed track. If she was removed I am confident that the success rate would be over 70%. I recommend bio with a competent teacher.

I thought Ellen Dawley was a great first year Professor. There was LOTS of reading, and out of all of my classes I consistently put the most effort into her class. She really appreciates those who answer questions, and is nice when you go to ask her questions. She likes for her studetns to feel ok about the class, so she does curve test grades.

This class take a lot of time and that's why it's hard. Ellen Dawley is good because she goes over the study questions in class. It's a boring class and you have to read a lot of articles, but you have to take it as an introductory bio course. If you keep up on your reading and study you should be fine. She's great at explaining and she's helpful.

Dr. Dawley is a great teacher. She'll definitely present you with a challenge here and there, but she always makes it an interesting one. I would love to take her for Biology, although I'm sure she would grade even harder in that. It's worth the work though because she really makes you do your best!

I recall her as less interesting than Mr. Dr. Dawley, and I didn't really enjoy her class much. I think I fell asleep on more than one ocassion. She was not a "bad" prof, though. I would say she was just average, and should make things a little more interesting.

I think it was Bio 442... Mammalogy? Anyway, Ellen rules. She's smart and cool, and I really liked Mammalogy a lot... comparing skeletal material and studying behavior and stuff was a welcome change from the molecular stuff I usually do. :)
