Comment:

Deb is a great teacher. Take her for genetics other than taking organismal genetics with whoever teaches it. I've heard more than 3 people say they had to withdraw from organismal but if you're willing to put a decent amount of work into genetics Deb with guide you to an A. Recitation is so helpful!

Comment:

Genetics - Deb is not the best prof. Her lectures jump all over the place and her thoughts are often unclear. Notes are difficult to pull out of her tangled talks. Aside from that, her tests and quizzes are fair, her recitation is HUGELY helpful, and she is very kind and witty. Use and abuse her office hours!!! She bakes, cookies, too.

Deb is an incredibly kind, intelligent woman but I STRUGGLED in this class. Lectures are sooo hard to follow b/c they're scattered-to the point that I didnt even know how to take notes during them! She's always willing to provide xtra help-which is good but I feel like I would've gotten so much more out of this class if someone else had taught it.

She's a nice lasy, but she's tough, and not always very helpful. She expects a lot out of students, but sometimes too much to the point where it's almost like she thinks you have no other classes besides hers. *Sigh*

Deb is one of the best teachers i've ever had. She really knows her genetics, even enough to tell textbooks that they are wrong! She's actually passionate about what she teaches even though she does it over and over again. People have it wrong when they say she's too hard.

Deb is a very smart professor and enthusiastic, but she seems to think that everyone else is as smart as her. She doesn't know how to teach very well, and basically her lectures consists of powerpoints full of figures in the book. The tests are awful too. She doesn't communicate very well either.

Deb knows her topic extremely well and she clearly cares about her students. However her lecture style is a little monotone and she relies to much on powerpoint presentations. Her pace with powerpoint is ridiculous and impossible to keep up with. Strong educator (one on one) but poor lecturer.

Her tests are murderous, but she (sort of) makes up for it by knowing the subject really well and still being able to teach it so the non-Genetics majors (most of us) can understand it. I went in hating Genetics, but I find it pretty interesting now. Awesome teacher!
