She was literally the rudest professor I have ever had. She judged me when I went up to her to ask a question. She also puts ZERO effort into teaching the class. All we did is sit on the computers and do little discussions. I would not recommend her to anyone ever in my life.

Literally the worst professor Ive ever had at RVC. Most of her assignments are about the DANGERS OF THE INTERNET. She will flat out fail you if she doesnt like your topic even if it fits all criteria. Just stopped responding to my emails entirely when I was confused why I got a 0 on an assignment I turned in on time and met all criteria. Awful

AWFUL! I no longer have a 4.0 because of this class. I had previously received 99%-100% on papers from other English classes. That is not what I got in her class! Ridiculous. If you ask her for feedback, she will never give it to you. She will give you a D on a paper, but provide no explanation as to why you received that grade. Don't do it.

Debby is a perfect example of how a professor can abuse the subjectiveness that accompanies grading english papers and give unjustified poor grades. I have received A's on every college paper I have written at ACTUAL universities but Debby of Rock Valley COMMUNITY College thinks she is a genius and all of her students must pander to her delusion.

PROF. ABNEY IS TERRIBLE. I wish I looked her up on here before I took her. Her instructions are super unclear and if you do not write a sentence exactly how she likes, she will give you a bad grade. She does not give feedback to your papers and does not provide any clarification. One of the WORST professors I have had. Find another prof. if you can

My experience with Professor Abney wasn't bad. The class is structured well. On the first day she provided a schedule that lists the activities for each class meeting. I also felt like the expectations for the papers were clear. She provided detailed writing assignment sheets and even sample papers.

Her communication skills are not the greatest. If you have a question referring to the writing assignment, itll take her 2-3 days before replying (on average). Its a little inconvenient, and I feel as a professor you should be there for your students to help them and I feel like she was not. I wouldnt recommend taking the course with her.

She is not very clear on her grading criteria. Often will take points off because sentences are simply not stated the way she wants it. Gets upset when you ask too many questions and doesn't answer anything that you ask. Wouldn't recommend, find another professor.

Her essay grading is super harsh and it is impossible to get good writing grades from her. There is little to no homework but she is not interesting in class and just reads off paper if she lectures. I would suggest not taking her under any circumstances if you want to get a good grade in English.

Not really clear on instructions and if you do follow instructions, if they're not absolutely perfect or to her liking she takes so many points off and your grade will drop tremendously (it wont make sense) which makes her a horrible grader. Shes not much help at all if you are actually trying to bring your grade up, she gives little feedback.

***DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS*** She is a tough grader, and if she does not like the way you say or write something, she will change it. She doesn't have a clear rubric for your papers, and when asked she says its in the syllabus. NO IT IS NOT!!! She is a terrible teacher! I would not recommend taking her!!

Horrible teacher. Do not take this instructor. Most other students dropped the class, others failed or received extremely low grades. The requirements for papers didn't follow the same criteria she used to grade the papers and the instructor didn't even know what her own criteria was when questioned. Rude and very condescending to students.
