A very interesting class, but you must enjoy theory, I thought the class was pretty easy, allot of reading that i found interesting. But you have to read for the 3-4 online quizzes. Plus a short essay and a research paper in loo of a final. All her lectures where wonderful, she is also very understanding/helpful, do the extra credit early.

Roy's class was fairly easy, but she was difficult to understand. I felt she was hard to talk to and ask questions. She seemed annoyed by questions and comments that did not agree with her opinions. She almost seemed defensive at times. Not generous overall.

Roy is the best! Her classes are personal and comfortable, but you learn more than you think you can. Best of all, shes fair. She always gets me pasionate about topics i hated. She forces your brain to expand to complicated reading, but teaches them so well, when you read them again you wonder what was so hard to understand in the begining.

Amazing class!!! I am not a women's studies major at all but the material was very interesting. Yes there is a lot of reading but it is material you want to read. 2 quizzes online open book not timed. 1 reading response 2 pages or less. Final project you can choose anything you want to write about 5 pages doubled spaces.10% of grade from attendance

Mrs. Roy is a very challenging teacher but I learned more in this class than in any class ever. I have never taken a wmst class before so concepts were difficult, but if you stay on top of your readings and study hard for the midterm you will do well, also participation is very important. there is extra credit opritunities that helped me alot!

Nice teacher and very knowledgable but class is hard. Her readings are pointless cuz you can't even understand them and her quizzes are extremely hard. First half of semester sucked but second half was alright. I would avoid if you're not a women studies major.

very interesting class. loved her lectures because she knew what she was talking about. The reading was very hard but if you show up to class everyday and pay attention you can pass with an A. I never read any of the material because it was difficult but i came to class and paid attention to her lectures and passed the class with an A.

shes sweet, but very close-minded & highly feminst. if your a male, watch out! this class is a lot of work. lots of reading and writing, but its pretty cool. makes you think outside out the box i guess. the title of the class is misleading,the class teaches you about intersex, transvestite, ****, gay and lesbian people, and crazy feminists.

there is a ton of reading involved in her class. i took her class to fill a requirement not really having any knowledge of woman studies i learned alot but its not really for me. Big on class participation, and dont bother to ask questions, she just gets annoyed!

This class was amazing! Prof. Roy is very knowledgable, and gives interesting lectures. If you want to be reminded that you are at a university, take this class. There is a good amount of reading, but it's excellent material. Go to class and do the readings and you will come out on top.

LOTS of reading. Difficult text. Lectures are kind of complex. She explains them if you have questions. She's helpful and loves her subject but it's A LOT of READING! She sometimes expects you to know what she knows. She's nice but the class wasn't what I thought it would be. THEORIES, not sex!

Lacks ability/desire to explain material presented. Unrealistic expectation for jr. level students to produce written assignments at a grad.level. Huge reading assignments take time away from your major, great out of pocket expense for purchasing all of the req.reading texts. Lec notes not posted til after exams,lec too fast to take notes.

Great professor! The class is very interesting and Professor Roy does a great job explaining the topics. However, there is a lot of reading required to get a good grade. Start ahead on the readings and the project. If you don't slack off, can get an A. If needed, ask her for help.

There is a lot of reading in this class so if you are looking for an easy class do not take this class. I enjoyed the readings and I found the class fun and easy for me. Have to be willing to put in a lot of time to get a good grade.
