If you're a bad writer don't take this class. She gives C's to majority of the class for all papers.

Every day was a lecture. The class is entirely based on three papers, two of which I know the average was D's and C's. This class is incredibly difficult, lowers your GPA, and relies so heavily on lectures that you may as well not even bother writing the papers if you zone out for five minutes (which is easy to do).

Dr. Buffton is very knowledgable on the topic of history, but has a hard time conveying a clear message of what she wants from you on assignments. Very tough grader, with little to no feedback. Reading assignments almost every day. She loves to call on unprepared students, just to put them on the spot in front of the class.

Great professor. A big aspect of her class is relationship. If you take the time to get to know her and know the people in the class you will have an awesome time. She will also be understanding of any mistakes. But do not be rude this will make the course much harder.

If you have literally any other option than her I suggest you take it. She has VERY specific requirements for the three papers you have to write, and no matter how good of a writer you are if you're missing a single thing your grade will be destroyed. Her topics are interesting, but the way she teaches them is beyond dry. Do NOT take her!

Expecting this class to be fun, but she made it awful. Decent person, horrible professor. Lecture heavy and strict grading. Expects you to only answer in her way, and if you don't, good luck getting an A. I did a paper exactly how it was asked and got a B. Three papers total, one is an 8-10 page research paper. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Dr. Buffton is a pretty hard professor, but she is knowledgable of what she says and always has sources. Appreciates feedback from the class and welcomes disscussions. Participate in class and take good notes and you'll be fine. It's pretty easy to get a good grade if you put more than 15 minutes into an assignment. She doesn't give exams either.

Do. Not. Take. Buffton. If you consider yourself a good student, Buffton will make you feel otherwise. Says she only gives 10% of her students A's on the essays she assigns. History 101? More like English 301. Don't even try to fight for a better grade on an essay. Will give you D and B/C on all papers. For the sake of your GPA, don't take Buffton.

Don't take buffton. She treats this History 101 class like a 300 level english course. She gives you essays to write and is very harsh on grading. If you go into her office to fight for a better grade, good luck. She told me if you get a B/C on a paper, then you had a really good paper. She said she only gives about 10% of her students get A's.

She grades like an English class so if you are a good writer she would be a good choice. Give 150 points for participation which is hard because she will attack you if you say the wrong thing. Wrote very rude things on my papers due to "poor writing" even though all the facts were right. Was supposed to be an easy gen ed and instead got a b/c

Bufton lectures for most of the class periods which gets really boring. Every week she assigns lots of pages to read from the text book. Also, she makes you participate 16 times and keep a log of it. This is difficult when the class has like 50 students. She grades papers as if there is only one direction that is correct.. her way. Dont take her

Despite what everyone else is saying, I actually really liked her. I loved that it was clear that she was interested in her field, and it showed. You just ABSOLUTELY have to read everything she assigns (which is a lot). There is no way you can slide by without doing so. I found the class very interesting and actually miss it a bit.

Do not take Buffton under any circumstance. Ive always done well in history classes but ended up getting a C in a gen-ed course I should have received an A in. She talks to students as if they are far below her and grades ridiculously hard. I wouldnt recommend her to any student.

I took this class to fill a Gen Ed. In one week we had to read a 300 page textbook. Way way to much reading for this class. We also had to do a ten page research paper and weekly reflections. If you miss more than three classes she drops your grade so much. She also lectures the entire time and its pretty boring. She is a really nice person though.

Very knowledgeable. Very unclear on how she grades papers and tests. Almost impossible to get an A. She grades extremely harshly and missing little details will drop you from an A to a C quickly. Not a great lecture. Alot of discussion that wont really help you succeed in the class. Get ready to put in A work for a C grade.

Dr. Buffton isn't quite as bad as everyone here says, or at least she wasn't this past semester. Her lectures were effective and usually somewhat interesting. There were quite a few papers (one is ex cred for +10% overall). She sends out comprehensive study guides and you can pass the exams with no reading and last minute studying. Write well.

Professor Buffton loves history and lecturing, but she doesn't care if you don't care. If you're not a history snob, avoid taking her. She would catch students zoning out and question them in front of the whole class for 10+ minutes. One time I got a 70 on an essay and she still gave me an F. Also, expect to read 25-75 pages a week.

One of the worst teachers I have ever had. Wont give you clear answers on what she wants from you in papers and tests then will mark you down because "its not what she wanted" even though its 100% correct. No grading guidelines just expects you to know.. also is more concerned on your grammar and syntax than your English teacher ever will be.
