I loved having her as a professor. She loves art and you can tell it. She has a great history with art and she is also really funny. Her class is hard and you write quite a bit, but it definitely helps you understand. And she's not afraid to get on a student's case if they're not paying attention!

A wonderful porfessor. She makes you seriously learn about art and knows a great deal about the subject. She's funny, smart, approachable and likes discussion in class. Yes, it's hard to get an A, but she expects you to learn about the subject, whether you're a major or not.

This class is NOT easy. She requires you to read, but doesn't remind you so you have to keep up with it yourself. She gives pop quizzes and her tests are extremely hard...even if you do study. She's not very approachable either, and don't ever disagree with her, she just becomes hateful.

Do not take this class. You have to memorize mundane details about copious amounts of artwork...what period was it made in, who made it, why did they make it...ect...this is for like, 30+works per chapter...condescending to students, berates students who ask honest questions...very uncomfortable class with people being chastised.

If you can avoid her, stay away. The class is extremely boring and I (along with the rest of the class) found it extremely difficult to take notes on her moderately pointless lectures. She says "I suppose" too much. I won't say it was god awful, but it could have been MUCH better.

this is not an easy art class; in a semester this professor covered the entire text book- front to back! and expected knowelede of every term. graded hard on papers and tests. she treated this appreciation class like a history class for art majors, when, in fact, none were. avoid this professor, if at all possible.

OMG! hardest art history prof. ever!!! wouldn't ever recommend. makes u feel as if ur dumb. u could study for days and she'd still find something wrong on ur tests. papers need to be written about what she talks about and she grades those hard too. hated every minute of her class

Tough, but you learn a lot. She is very knowledgeable, and is very thorough. Just learn how to study and write papers for her class and tests aren't bad. Flashcards easily make an A, and write about whatever she talks about in class. Don't underestimate Prompts. Do them a day or two ahead and reread and proof. Takes like an hour total.

Dr. Marchant's classes are very challenging, but she is regardless a great professor. I have learned a lot from her classes about techniques than I have in some of my studio classes. Take her, but be prepared to study... hard.

Dr. Marchant is a very knowledgable professor. She makes the class as interesting as an art class can be. She's helpful, understanding, and fair to ALL her students. Study your notes, ask questions, pay attention, and you will find this class to be easy. I recommend her, and i would take her again if i had to.

She knows her stuff, but has no business being a teacher! She makes rude comments - not just in general, but to students on a personal level! She never lets class out on time, always 5 minutes late! I would not recommend her to anyone, but I would recommend that the university terminate her employment!

Easy, as long as you actually come to class, study, and DO NOT DISRUPT CLASS!! I would take her again, just be sure you do not fall asleep during the overhead presentation, and establish teacher's pet status within the first 2 weeks. She does have those she likes better, and yes, you can tell. ;)
