This was a discussion class and she wasn't very good at keeping us on track. We'd often run over. She really does make you think in class and tries tirelessly to get you to see things from a different prospective. However, if you say something she does not agree with based off the texthistory she might openly shame you in class.

She rocks! She is EXTREMELY knowledgeable and surprisingly funny. She grades mostly on participation which is great because she is very engaging. The tests and essays that she does grade on she is very helpful about preparing you for and helping you out with. I would strongly recommend her as a religion teacher!

Deborah is the most self-less prof you can find at Gustavus! She puts in the time, just as she requires of her students. Definitely not easy, but her commitment to making you a good student and scholar is worth it! I am so thankful for her guidance and challenge! Plus, she's hilarious!

The most helpful prof I've had at GAC! Reading can be long and is necessary for class participation which is a large part of the grade, if you aren't a class contributer don't take her class. Very passionate about the subject matter. So amazing she will make you consider a major in the religion department. TAKE HER CLASS!

A true interest in the class is required. She assumes that you know a lot about the Bible and it's teachings as well. She will proof read your papers, but doesn't give much feedback. On the final draft of your paper, she just crosses out certain words and writes in some phrase that doesn't even pertain. Hated this class and her :s Never again.

Take it! It's fun, she's awesome. Not an easy class at all(in terms of work), but her awesomeness makes up for it and you will learn a lot. She works hard to teach effectively, and expects your hard work in return. Speak up in class and help her out a little, too. She likes that. Probably one of the most enlightening classes offered at GAC.

I would give Goodwin two thumbs up! Best thing about her is that she will pre-read all rough drafts of papers! USE this resource, it will help you a lot. Her classes are interesting and informative. Just keep up with the reading and you'll be fine.

Best professor I've had at gustavus. Slackers don't take this class, lots of reading, but never too much. She loves to discuss things with the class so take it if youre talkative. She's completely interested in both the subject and her students. I'm taking other classes jsut because she's teaching them.

I think Deborah is an amazing prof. She asks the right questions in class to make you think about what she is teaching. Very knowledgable on many different topics. She expects your writing to get significantly better with each paper, but she is always willing to sit down and help you if you need it. Highly recommended.
