Love this woman! She is very progressive, prefers to let class lead itself. Moderates discussion as opposed to lecturing. Class is entirely what the students bring to it. Be creative, get engaged, grab coffee outside of class if things are not clear. DO NOT EXPECT TO BE SPOONFED, KNOWLEDGE IS EARNED

I loved this medical anthro class! Deborah knows her stuff but she hardly ever lectured, instead she let us learn through great discussions. Do all the readings! You will get out of this class what you put into it. There were no tests at all, what she cares about is participation. This was by far my favorite class I've taken at LC!

The reading in this class were spectacular. Only a few were dry and boring. My only qualms with Heath is that she often does not make her assignments clear and in response to clarifying question I've often received an "I don't know yet." This can be really frustrating but overall I have enjoyed the class.

Avoid like the plauge. This class was embarassingly easy and lacked any constructive thought. Wasted 14 weeks and left the class unsatisfied. This class is basically 3 hours a week of everyone discussing their personal feelings then patting themselves on the back while they listen to themselves ramble. If you want to learn, don't take this class.

This medical anthro class is one of the best I've taken. The prof's super smart, engaged, & dynamic. Flexible but inspiring. Very interesting reading. The final research projects produced top quality work. We all learned a lot in a supportive setting.

She gave a syllabus but didn't follow it, assigned a book that we didn't even read (expensive!), was super-vague about the final paper... Yeah she wears cools socks but I didn't appreciate her lessons (not joking: she said, "This is a good word to drop at a cocktail party to impress sociologists...") BUT you will learn a lot. Oddly...

Not very difficult. Very little reading and work. Splits class up into groups to discuss readings everyday. Rarely has lesson plan or anything to say about readings.

This woman made me MISERABLE. She REFUSED to produce a syllabus, she sprung a midterm on the class before hand, she was TOTALLY unclear on expectations, and criticized me for asking for clear directions. AVOID HER IF POSSIBLE.

Loved her passion for the subject, free-form classes and projects, engaging readings, personal fieldwork, fearlessness of all taboos...esp. sex, genderqueer theory, etc... personality: eclectic (good thing) and dorky in a positive way. Smiles, laughs, is h

Deborah was one of the worst teachers I have had at LC. She grades so unfairly and basically never tells you what your grade is until you get it the next semester. Her tests are ridiculous and I doubt she even grades them.

The class is easy, and Deborah makes it informative. Not a lot of work, mostly short readings and discussions. It's usually fun, and I would agree that she can be kind of flakey, but it makes things interesting.
