I had to write two ten page papers and two five page papers and like 4 discussion posts. Professor Neill tells you exactly what she wants you to answer in her papers. Definitely take this class if you need an upper level humanities.

Her contact page on syllabus is literally just a link to an article about how to "not annoy your professor". We pay thousands to learn from your class, not sorry if you get annoyed by polite questions. Exams full of trick questions (multiple right answers); she gets rude/snarky with you like your education is a sassy game to her. So frustrating.

I thought this was a History class. My entire grade was based on my writing composition. 5, 5 page papers and 1, 20 page paper and every ounce of my grade was based on spelling errors, grammatical errors, poor composition, in line citation problems, poor reference structure. Not a single percent was given for my knowledge about the course.

I took Dr. Neill's HST 325 - European Exploration and Empire online course. At first I was taken aback by the length of papers she assigned but once you start writing they are not as hard as you might think. The reading is very interesting and the discussion board posts are stimulating. Take Dr. Neill and you'll be surprised by what you'll learn.

Unless you're a history buff or major, plan on reading A LOT and watching hours of videos.I did actually enjoy the class, but I found the exams MUCH harder than the quizzes.I saved all of my study guides and notes throughout the course which was HUGE on the exams. I wouldn't call this class an "easy A".Theres just A LOT of information to recollect.

I am not a history major but this class had a profound impact on me. Dr. Neill was a fantastic instructor, and very supportive of her student's success. The materials were superb. A lot of reading, and I did get into the weeds, but Dr. Neill was very helpful in providing direction. Took this course last year and still think about it!

these guys forgot to mention the fact that 100 questions have to be answered in the essay and i found the essays almost impossible to write, any other history class I have taken has been an easy A where I just withdrew from this class. I would recommend only taking this if you are a History Major

3 books (Easy to read since they are very clear). 4 papers (two 5-7pages and two 10-15 pages)/ Five easy posts that go along with the papers. The papers are like fill in the blanks since she gives you all the questions that need to be answered. You use the book as your only source so papers are easy.

This class consists of 4 book reports, that's it. Be sure to follow the example papers she provides. Plus, you have a lot of time in between each paper due date so you can focus a lot more on other classes. Highly recommend.

Very easy class. Kind of boring since everything comes from slides but the topic was interesting to me. Pay attention in class and you'll do fine. Most things in tests are from her lectures and not from the book. Also had to read a novel and write an easy 3 page paper.

4 long papers, but she provides all the items to be included in the papers. As long as you follow what she gives you, you will get a good grade. Teacher was very clear as to her expectations in the class.

And HST 103. Uses materials for everything! So read them! Thoroughly! As a European History major, I loved the courses, but I can see where some would have problems. However, all assignments are interesting even to non-HST majors. Very fair grader IMO, but her online exams are brutal. Make sure to type up extensive notes from textbook.

I took class with her at ASU West even though she does not teach there normally. She is really big on powerpoints and at times seemed a little unprepared However, I believe it was more because she got thrown into this class. Tries to be helpful but is super liberal. Does not grade the essays hardly but that could be because it was a 100 level cass.

Took her for an online class on European colonization. Very easy; all you need to do is answer the questions she gives you about the reading material and incorporate your answers into an essay. Just follow the instructions carefully and you'll ace the class. Very interesting material, too--definitely take this if you're into the period.

I took both 103 & 101 with Neill in the spring of 2008. Awful professor. Did NOT know her stuff, mentioned she was sent out to Poly after not doing well in Tempe. Her assignments were stupid and she's more concerned about her appearance than actually learning how to be a good prof. Truly useless. Several times gave incorrect 'facts' to the class.

Great class if you're an English Major, if not, dont bother you wont get any higher than an 80 something on any paper you write. Class consisted only of discussion boards and papers, apparently the professor is getting paid to read not teach.

Great class if you enjoy writing! Class consisted of five long papers and a few discussion board postings. She provides excellent clarity of her expectations to succeed on each assignment. If you follow the rubric, you will do very well. Also, great feedback to improve on future projects. Extremely interesting content and would recommend her!

Ok, so I can't speak to her "hotness"... I had this class online over winter session. It was hard - Basically 3 weeks containing four 10+ page writing assignments. It was tough, but she gives a rubric for each paper and is very clear about her expectations and a fair grader. The book is DEFINITELY necessary - the class isn't possible without it.
