Comment:

Professor Swanson is so sweet, she's absolutely wonderful. I really enjoyed her class because it felt like she enjoyed having us there. There was a lot of reading and more discussion, but she's very understanding if you're a quieter person. Also be sure to ask questions about tests! She'll let you know what you need to know as long as you ask.

She would put things that never mattered on her tests. The daily quizzes were annoying. In her lectures, she slides through her slides really fast, so good luck writing everything down.

Comment:

I took race and ethnic relations just for my GLD flag and was not excited, but Prof Swanson is so passionate about the subject, I ended up learning a ton and being so thankful I took the class. There is a lot of reading, but it's really interesting for the most part and Swanson is awesome! Brings snacks for movie days :) Easy and enjoyable class.

Professor Swanson is always very clear about what will be on the exams, gives extra credit opportunities, and grades all assignments fairly. I've never liked sociology, but she teaches it well and makes the class fun wherever she can. I appreciate that.

I was originally scared to take this course because of gender stereotypes. I loved this class though and learned so much. I think everyone should take it. Also you need to take both sections because one is more women and another is more men. She is a wonderful, kind, caring, helpful, and intelligent woman. Wish I had taken more with her!

I did not find the material overly difficult, but she explains it well. Very knowledgeable and willing to answer questions, and it's nice that she supplements notes with in-class activities once in a while. Be sure to read the textbook carefully because not everything is rehashed in class. She's a good prof, and I liked the class.
