I learned quickly that this was gonna be a hard course. I recommend making flashcards based off of the exam slides she gives out&focus on the bolded terms. Write down as much as you can&keep organized notes. Shes a really hard grader so dont feel discouraged if you studied really hard&dont the grade you wanted. & dont save papers for last min.

I had her my freshman year, and it was tough. Every single class was a lecture. Be prepared to memorize pieces of artwork for the tests. Sometimes you'll have to memorize up to 40 pieces. She is a very harsh grader. She'll comment on everything, including English errors. Though, these comments can be useful.

I had her during my first semester of freshman year, and it was definitely a tough course. She gives long lectures, so make sure to stay awake. She's also very strict with essay formats. Be prepared to study about 50 pieces of art per exam, and only have about 6 of them be on the actual exam, which is purely essay/short response.

I had her as an advisor during my time at Endicott. I felt like she purposely was rude and unapproachable so students would not go to her for help. Freshman coming in do not know that she wants to be called doctor so she sends nasty emails to her students if you do not which is not right. Edict really needs to take a look at her. Bad for Endicott.

Dena is passionate about what she is talking about, but is not passionate about interacting with students. Professors at Endicott have a tendency to interact with students in a friendly and opening way, which is not what you will find with Gilby. Being in her class was a miserable experience.

Gilby is just one of those teacher who you think is trying to screw you over with hard tests Her exams are only about 8 slides that you have to call out but you study about 80 slides PER test. However she is helpful and she prepares you for the second section of AH with the second professor. The second section is easier if you survived Gilby

I took the class to fulfill a fine arts credit. I didn't know anything about art prior to taking the class. She is a hard grader, but if you do the work and go to class, she is a very understanding professor. Definitely helped me grow as a writer and expand my knowledge, that's for sure!

I've had several courses with Prof. Gilby, and I've gotten an A in each one. She knows when people slack off (those are the ones who complain the most!) or aren't working hard enough, and like an employer in the real world, she won't coddle her students. Little known fact: If you work hard, you pass! Hard to believe, I know~

Dont b fooled like we all were on the first day of class--shes A LOT worse than she looks!!!! who really memorizes the copywrite dates of documentaries?!?!?! oh, and get rid of that purse!!! BUT she really likes raggae and sang "its gettin hot in here" when she took off her coat!
