I hope you are good at googling and copying answers from people, because that's all you will do in this class, unless you plan to fail. I was told that half the people who take the course fail... I really beleive that now.

I didn`t like his teaching. Over simplifies difficult stuff and then asks his TA to set up obscenely hard assignments. unfair. Misses alot of classes and they r the 8:30 ones which is aweful. I personally don`t think he was fit for the VP position due to his carlessness teaching style, Luc is a much better candidate.

Toughest course at McGill, bar none. As someone has said earlier, do NOT take it unless you have a good group/resources. If you disregard that, you will fail (unless you're a flipping genuis, in which case you aren't reading this). Must use Google for this course. Great course, very interesting, impossible assignments.

He seems to find ways to put things so that everyone understands. He definitely is a genious when it comes to theoretical computer science. I recommend him to anyone for this course (330). As for 531, that is one tough course, and I dropped out of that after 2 lectures. So be careful.

Very clear and interresting. Some say the he is tough, but that depends on the course. I would say that he is the best prof in the department. Only wished that he did not leave us 1 month into the course with a teacher that can't teach. [Refer to M. Koucky]

Shows outright contempt in class for students who make understandable errors. Unapproachable in person. Very strict. Routinely fails half of the class. Takes no prisoners. All this is too bad since his explanations are really clear and concise and his class is really interesting.

Hardest course at McGill, irrelevant of Faculty. Do not take 531 lightly, you will fail You must have backup (genius in Math/theoretical CS) to do well. I did, because I had good backup. But a fantastic course, really interesting, it's just that the assignments (all 5) are impossible to do. Sit in.
