Comment:
Worst class ever. Grades depend only on exams which were mostly essays that were written in old English. He talked to us like we should know everything already and when we asked for help he would say to "read the syllabus"

Prof. Lamb tries his best, but he's frequently hard to communicate with and his tests are filled with quite longwinded questions. His tips were too abstract to grasp for tests and he generally felt too detached from actually teaching the class. You'll simply read your book a lot and test and I generally didn't feel I learned as much as I could.

I took his Roman History course. I do think he has had some difficulty figuring out how to teach an online class. He does have difficulty talking at a level his students understand but he has been very open to criticism provided you remain respectful. Other than that his class difficult but I learned a lot and I got a good grade.

I am in this class now and just found this site. It would have been helpful before I signed up for this class. He answers your questions with another question rather than helping you. I have trouble with his tests because all he does is write paragraphs for a muliple choice question and he gives you little time to finish. Just don't take his class.

I am taking his online Greek History class right now and all I can say is that he is the most unhelpful, inconsiderate teacher I've ever had. His quizzes are terrible. He writes questions that are two paragraphs long and expects you to answer them in a very short amount of time. He is very hard to please and VERY unhelpful!

very formal teacher who demands perfection. However, he himself is rather lax in his grammer and spelling. His tests (which is the entirety of what is graded) consist of looooong prompts for a simple multiple choice. This makes the fact that the tests are timed even more stressful. Questions are often very unclear, so answering questions very hard!

I am taking his online Roman history class and I am surprised at how difficult he has made passing this class for students. His use of grammar is very poor even though he demands that all students use proper grammar.

Dear, Dr. Dennis Lamb, online greek history class required a lot of reading and study guide questions although no hw was to be turned in, the quiz's he gave were paragraph long questions that were very unclear and poorly written, the class avg for quizs was always below 50%. He will try to make you feel like an idiot, I DO NOT recomend this class.

Although it's an online class and I've never seen him, he still managed to frighten me. He is certainly a pragmatic and formal teacher. However, his "study guide" is about 200 questions per ten page section. Which certainly does not condense what I've read into something I'm going to study from. My overall experience: reproachable:/

This professor is extremely frustrating. The time he allows for tests does not NEARLY come close to the amount of time needed to complete them, and he uses more words than anyone I've ever met. Furthermore, his assignemnts are vague, painfully wordy, and he is not afraid of taking off major points for grammar and less than through mastry of concept

I agree students should be mature, responsible, respectful, and have good grammar. When they are not you still don't have the right to be rude, condescending, or attempt to embarass them, which he does. His responses make you feel bad asking for help. His attitude ruined the class for me and he tended to be wordy, condescending, and downright rude.

Dennis is extremely knowledgeable and one can learn a lot from him, but he sometimes forgets that his students are not as knowledgeable. Assignments are very often not clear, but he is very helpful in clearing things up. Dennis may be sarcastic to students who act like little children, so don't take this class if you don't want a challenge.

Lamb can be hard to understand sometimes, but he is very knowledgable. Bulk of class was two essays and two study guides, with about 200 questions each. He invites everyone to ask any question they need, and he tries to be helpful, but his answers can be hard to understand sometimes. Take Lamb for History, not English.

Comment:
Mr. Lamb is arrogant and detached from the modern world. He is "overstudied" in ANCIENT litterature and believes this makes him better than you. He feels any knowledge you may have is stolen from another source - students are incapable of independent thought, and treated as sheep. He will not attempt to communicate, just try to talk over your head.

This was an online class and even though he demanded proper grammar and spelling he let the "U R's" run loose, when I submitted my well written paper he accused me of plagiarism and got snippy because I didn't stick to citing the textbook. I wanted to learn Roman history, not one textbook's version. I agree with the guy that said RUN!

After almost two years at Edmonds Community College I would say that Dennis Lamb is the worst teacher I have had. He will leave very condescending comments on your papers. My opinion is that you should stay away from this teacher. A professor should not act like this to students; they should be there to help them learn, not tear them down.

In ENG 250, "The Research Paper," we gained absolutely no understanding of writing research papers. I agree that his knowledge of Greek history is great, but he has none to offer in terms of instruction. All learning took place in the textual resources. His replies to student questions were unhelpful and often discouraging. Very condescending too.

Lamb is EXTREMELY knowledgable and smart, and that's his problem. He knows so much, that it's very difficult to keep up with him and it's very easy to get lost, and he doesn't seem to know it. Eventually, I figured him out, and was able to drag enough out of him to ace the final, but I did very poorly the first few tests just because he was very unclear. I hope he's improved. He seems like a decent guy, and was willing to help, but his brain is bigger then his common sense.
