Dr. McDaniel is a very intelligent professor with a passion for what he does. His classes are not unreasonable; he just expects you to put in effort and time. I have learned a lot from him in two different classes, and appreciate his open-mindedness. As long as you can support your opinion, he will accept it.

Tough grader. He likes papers to be a certain way and if they aren't exactly what he wants, he isn't afraid to tell you. Understands that brit lit kind of sucks for non-English majors and tries to be energetic in class. If you go to class and show initiative, you'll pass.

Dr. McDaniel was the worst professor I have ever had. He is unwilling to help. If you submit a paper ahead for him to read you will get it back the night before it is due at 10pm with a lot of complaints or no corrections. He hates anyone who is not an English major and will grade you lower than you deserve. I dreaded that class.

McDaniel is a wonderful and energetic educator. He strives to help each individual student succeeed. If you think you cannot get an A in his class it is only because you did not try. If you are taking a freshmen course with him remember that high school writing quality is way below that of college quality. He will help you get to that level!

McDaniel knows his stuff with Literature, but for Business Communications? TOTALLY useless. His "my way or the highway" attitude is unrealistic and makes for ridiculously subjective grading. The entire class is group work. Unless you're forced to, don't take him for EL 109.

I'll be honest: I almost never agree with anything Dr. McDaniel says. He has a lot of opinions, and he shares them freely. That being said, he is always clear that they are his opinions, and you can agree or disagree as you see fit. He is also a hell of a nice guy, humorous, and tremendously knowledgeable about English literature. Take him!

Good Prof. All I have had for English. You will work for your grade but you will also learn. Took two classes with him and got an A- and an A. Would probably take again. This is college. Work is actually required and I'm happy that grades aren't handed out here. And he is a jerk, but you can fire back anytime you want to and make him listen.

McDaniel was a pompous arrogant JERK. He throws the fact that he is a published writer in peoples faces and he doesn't care when students have other matters that must be handled...such as an emergency. He is not willing to discuss anything, only tell you what he thinks. I would never take another class of his and I wouldn't recommend one either.

This class was tougher than I expected it to be, but the processes for writing that he taught us proved helpful for writing essays in other classes. Its worth trying to get an A just so you know how to get A papers in other classes. Too many lazy people insisted they got bad grades because he picked on them, and didnt work for improvement.

Many People seem to have problems with Mcd. I think those were wrong.If you attend class, Mcd will try and give you a good grade.I never had any problems with him.Infact, he was NOT to be my advisor, but when I asked if he would be, he had no hessitation of doing so. Although he is very picky about errors on papers,that only helps a person. A+++

I enjoyed having him for class. He is one of the most insightful professors I have encountered at SVC. Although he doesn't really give out D's or F's, MANY people in his classes get B's (which can be disappointing to some). It takes hard work to get A's here, so I feel fortunate for doing so.

Easy class if you do the work and cooperate with your group. The mid-term is not hard as long as you study the important stuff. The group projects are actually kind of fun especially if you like your group. It's a good yet easy class for business majors, even though he's not a business professor.
