Can't speak to his last few years before retirement--I was a student from '76-'77--but, like so many of my Philosophy and Government teachers, those years. at Suffolk, he was "first among equals". His strongest point. again, like many teachers there, was the value of the dialogue, in the process of teaching. You actually had to think!

He is a little crazy, but you will deff. laugh at some of the things he says in class. He is very smart, but perhaps becoming senile. Big on grammar. You will pass only if you agree with what he says.

I would have liked to learn about religion. This did not happen at all! He goes off talking about politics and then gives you questions to answer that are way beyond what we talked about in class. He grades grammar over anything else which is annoying because it is not an english class. He is a very intellegent man but does not relay religion well

I really didn't like him. And not just because he is very conservative and inflicts all of his opinions on his students with very little invitation for discussion. It is because he hardly ever talks philosphy- he spend his class time ranting and raving about random things- personal anecdotes, etc. He uses class as an excuse to talk about himself.

He's extremely arrogant and highly opinionated. He goes off on rants that have nothing to do with the class. Also, every other sentence from his mouth is how he went to Berkley or Chicago University. I don't agree with what he says about religion, and frankly I don't care because he has very narrow minded viewpoints.

I like the guy. He's controversial & loves a good discussion. Reading wasn't that important just the class discu... journal entries & esp. attendance. go to class and don't use your feelings in an argument and you'll do fine. Warning:he will tear your point apart if its not same as his but thats the fun part. i took his Sp06 & will again in FA 06.

A professor who challenges students whenever possible. He loves discussion and argument, and he hates identity politics (e.g. "I have gay friends so what you said offends me"). Either he will bring you over to his way of thinking or he'll push you far in the other direction, but either way he'll make you a better thinker. He's second only to Fried.

Great professor. If you closed-minded fools get offended when someone has a view that conflicts with your own, then don't take the class? Otherwise, he makes good points and backs them up well. Also very funny

One of the best professors at Suffolk for sure. His opinions can sometimes be "interesting", but it's defintely something new. Very opinionated and always speaks his mind. Fun class, interesting discussions, not too much work assigned. Everyone should take him, just for the experience.

hilarious guy, so not pc, but its ok with him for some reason...i can quote him on talking about "gays," and "gayness..." he is incredibly opinionated...you spend most of the class just litening to his rants and viewpoints on life in a pretty general sense...he calls it discussion but its hardlythat

Probably the smartest professor teaching at Suffolk. Most of the time he is sound and valid with what he has to say, it is always good to challenge him if you have a valid arguement. His references to life has lot of truth behind them. Lots of fun and easy if you keep up with the reading and journal

his classes are simple. you will learn from the readings. but he will inform you of all of the scary ways the world can end very soon, like how the super volcano will erupt at any moment, eradicating the human race. AAAAHHHH!!!!

Hey whether you agree with him or not I found him to be entertaining. I don't agree with him at all and I found those who didn't like his class were generall canon fodder. You either love him or hate him because you don't understand him.

In between rants about completely irrelevant topics to the class (the problems of American youth, contemporary ethical attitudes, etc.) and shocking generalizations about his students and colleagues, the class learned surprisingly little. In essence, he was awful.
