Dr. Pettibone is a stickler for things to be done his way. His papers are ridiculous and even if you take them to the writing center, it isn't good enough. Don't take his class.

Didn't have a problem with the yelling, but he was very disorganized. I thought he had a wealth of knowledge on the subject but often went off on needless tangents. Also he doesn't seem to have very good interpersonal skills. Not a bad teacher but why is he chair of the department?

American History was really interesting. Dr. Pettibone makes it real with personal stories and insight. I thought he was pretty balanced politically.

Tells Interesting Stories, and knows an insane amount about history. Thats the good, Bad is: he is confusing, pretty disorganized, not helpful, socially inadept and grades really harsh on tests. He laughs at his own jokes and yells in the middle of sentences and is really stict about everything juvinile seating chart. His lectures are really good

Dr. Pettibone is an excellent professor. I find that his classes don't even require not taking. He emails you a study guide the tests which, if followed, guarantees you an A. Quizes can be somewhat difficult. He is an amazing repository of information. He wrote the history of Souther!

Comment:
His requirements for an A are not unreasonable. He seems well informed about history, but would do well not to spend the first third of class bashing conservatives instead of teaching. Drawbacks: required reading of *very* liberally biased magazines, constant pushing of left-wing politics, and frequent shouting during lectures.

Comment:
Getting an A from Pettibone can be EXTREMELY easy IF you do the minimum amount of work required. Read the textbook EVERY DAY and do your two book reports on time and the class should be a breeze. One criticism I have, though, is that he can get too opinionated with regards to politics at times. Sometimes he just needs to shut up and teach.
