Ethics is a touchy feely subject, take it only if its required or you can handle abortion and gay rights, Not for the die-hard jesus fan. Dr Tishken will ask you to back up every claim you make with something other than "my parents taught me that way" or "it says it in the bible". Nice guy... but asks for students to keep papers at a minimum, then docks points for vagueness. Required 7 books for one class (unnecessary to achieve an A). He also has a hard time verbalizing what he is trying to teach.

I loved this class and the prof.! He lets everyone speak there opinion and makes you question what you think you know. He has awesome guest speakers and an extra credit project where you can visit any religious experience you want. Not Gear Towards Catholicism.. Great teacher!! I learned alot!

Really interesting class; NOT geared pro-christianity. Tishken brings in cool guests, Buddhist monks, etc, but also makes you watch sometimes boring movies. He did get annoyed with lack of interest & attention from most students, but so did I. Would be better as honors class. He let one girl sleep all semester...in the front row...

Great, knowledgeable teacher. Daily quizes (drops the bottom 3 grades), no tests, a couple of papers. If you read the assigned SHORT reading you will get an A no problem at all. He's not out to trick or stump you. Helpful and very easy to talk to (go to all the classes though).

Professor Tishken is nice and seemed pretty easygoing... Probably too easygoing. He COULD NOT keep control of the class; it felt like every Monday of last semester was a waste of time. He allows for two absences before docking any points and the text we used was fairly cheap new but is bound w/ extra materials you won't use. Just get the book.

Excellent proffesor and excellent class. I would take him again. Very easy, do the reading and papers and your pretty much guarenteed an a. He has a strange sence of humor but he is a great professor. The tao book, dont buy it, you can find all of it online.

Syllabus is very easy to follow -- requirements clearly laid out. One paper due every week and one quiz on a movie. Plenty of time is given for final paper. He's extremely boring though -- unanimated with not much personality. He's very helpful though so if you need assistance he'll get right back to you and is available by phone or at his offi

Recommended. Easy gordon rule course. 2 page papers are due every week but they are responses to multiple questions which make the writing go smoother. Class discussions can be interesting. Easy true/false quizzes. Final is a 2 page double-spaced paper on any influential 20th century person of your choice.

Tishken is an incredible teacher who makes class interesting through discussions. Asks everyone their opinion, so everyone is involved. quizes are easy on movies watched. Most of final grade is based on papers that are written every week on passages from different books. Great class, great teacher, highly reccommended. And plenty of Xtra credit.

class is very easy! there is an assignment due once a week on your 2nd meeting and he goes over it and talks about it with the class once you turn it in. the only thing bad about him is his attendance policy. i missed 2 weeks bc of surgery and i was not behind bc it moves so slow but it counted against me. so do not miss class!
