Comment:

She is somewhat mercurial. Some days she can be very funny and have a silly streak. Other days she is tortured, tormented and angry. I don't really understand her personality. Anyway, she's a fine teacher. Goes easy on tests, drops hints about whats going to be on them. Overall.... I kinda like her!

Dr. Davis is an alright professor, but she resembles more of a fed up high school science teacher. She purposely stops lecture to turn to some students and yell at them to stop talking, she's condescending and talks down to you. She is very rude in her responses to your emails and will judge you very quickly and think you're actually a bad student.

She grades assignments with feedback that does not match her silly rubrics. Overall, she assigns a paper even though she does not know how to grade papers. I really had a horrible experience in this class and would recommend finding a different science class. Her portfolio project is tedious and the class is boring as well.

3 exams non-cumulative. The exams were pretty easy, I just studied the slides 2 days before each exam. The lab is annoying but you just have to power through it and do all the assignments in order to get an A (don't take lab lightly). Davis is straight forward professor, but I can tell she hates her job. Can be rude at times. Overall, not bad.

She is a great professor. Here are the MUSTS in her class: Get the assignments done, and do work hard on them. Attendance is not mandatory, but it counts for extra credit at the end. She is actually funny, and she is a helpful professor. Just talk to her and she will understand. Study hard for the tests if you are not a science major.

Dr. Davis is by far the most clear cut professor I've ever taken. Her notes are clean and concise and are posted on Sakai to make a great resource for studying for the exams. Also no textbook. She is very nice and understanding and treats you with respect. I would recommend her especially to all non-science majors who need to fill a requirement. A+

Love Dr. Davis. If you take the time to get to know her and stop by her office hours, she really is a genuine person. She just hates when people don't put in the effort. Tests are super easy, just go to lecture, she'll tell you what is on the test.

This class is a lot of work, but you will learn a lot if you put in the effort. Her teaching style is to call on people to get the class thinking about the material. Most classmates probably aren't used to this. If you come to class, pay attention, and focus on what she emphasizes, then you should do well.

Honestly, not even worth it. Lectures are dry. Tests are annoying and hard. Papers are picked on. If you ask a question it is a long winded response. If you're not interested in microbes or microbiology don't even bother with this course-believe me.

As a professor she is ok but not for me. I think I learned well but I didn't get a score I expected. I don't know why. And she is very strict in the references of your paper.

I found her to be a genuinely nice person and her lectures extremely clear and easy to understand. Attendance to every lecture is MANDATORY if you want to get an A or B+; there is a lot of information in the textbook that is not covered in class, she is very clear as to what she wants you to know. As of 9/2013, she is no longer the lab coordinator.

I think that Dr. Davis is a great person and as a professor she is OK. If you barely attend and do horrible on one exam you can still easily get an A as she drops the lowest exam score and there are a lot of other easy points to earn over the course of the semester. Make sure you do your work on time even though she is very lenient on deadlines.

Comment:

Very nice, helpful when you ask her. I'm expecting a high C or a low B in her class because of the curve; her exams are pretty difficult but if you study and go to class you'll do well. Ask questions. She also teaches off a slideshow -- no textbook or handouts. She hasn't yelled once in class and is a very likable person.

I guess first impressions aren't everything.She seems nice at first, but after a while you can tell she's pretty condescending.If only she didn't teach everything directly off the slides...and if she was more clear on what would be on the exams...

Dr. Davis talks down to students, disrupts class to yell at people talking during lecture or to yell at people that have walked in late. She was one of 3 lecturers we had this semester and she was the least helpful during lecture when it came to teaching beyond the scope of her slides.

This is a difficult class your better off taking the microbio under genetics heard it was easier. Her notes are not helpful you need to read the book. Shes really mean and yells in class. the exams are tricky with mc and opened questions. really hoping there is a good curve!

So she can be pretty mean and sometimes embarrass you in front of the class so it pains me to say that her teaching style is actually pretty good. She explains things clearly with examples that make it easier. Overall, she's a good professor but try to avoid being noticed.
