try to avoid this class as much as possible, this class is not as great as you expected. it heavily uses the textbook, but not diving deep enough in the filed(you can totally learn everything from ML or CV classes.) also, this class has way too much HW

I found Diane Litman to be arrogant, rude, and unapproachable. I got a lot of blank stares or faces made at you by her. She also laughed at students several times during the course and has a way of shutting down or condescending anyone she doesn't agree with. I did not find her helpful at all and would recommend finding a different instructor

Literally sits there and has the students teach the class while she doodles. grades seem to be pulled out of a hat. if you ask a question, expect a smart (as in rude) comment back and to be laughed at. She laughs at students... Walking argument against tenure and the worst Ive taken yet. why even have a teacher if the students teach the class?

Dr. Litman can be incredibly helpful, as long as you at least make an effort to succeed in the course. Make sure to take the homework seriously, and not to underestimate any of the concepts, regardless of how simple they seem, and you'll do fine.

Very poor teacher. Lectures are vague; it's just her reading vague Powerpoint slides. Homeworks are very unclear. But you can get a good grade if you follow the book closely, it's a good book.

I almost feel bad for her because of all the negative reviews. The truth is she is arrogant, mean and incompetent as a professor of AI. We have done nothing but review things I already knew but somehow I am more confused than when I started. She gives too much homework that takes too long b because its vague. Doesn't give ample time for programming.

Avoid at all costs. Has ruined a subject I was looking forward to. Assignments are insanely ambiguous. All lecture material and slides are directly from the book. Does nothing but read slides and trace problems. Defends strict grading of ambiguous questions. Does not answer questions helpfully or make ambiguous assignments clear when asked. AVOID.

A ton of homework and most of it is entirely unclear what she wants until after it is submitted. The TA is hard to get a hold of as well so there's pretty much no good source for help. Will not answer questions if "it's too late". Slides are directly from the book and all she does is read her slides and trace problems on the board.

There is so much wrong with this course that I don't know where to start. She assigns written homework assignments at the same time as programming assignments. She assigns homework assignments UNRELATED to the midterm material during the time you should be studying for the midterm. Assignments are late, ambiguous, and NO LATE DUE DATES!!!

Welllll, She can either be somewhat easy or extremely hard. you HAVE to take this class seriously. Homework used to be out of 100. This lady is serious when it comes to this. listen, your priorities for this class is, Test (22%) X 3, HOMEWORK (2.something) X 10, and then quizes (1.something) X 4-5. DO ALL YOUR HOMEWORK!!! TAKE YOUR TIME ON THE TEST

All I can say is she is a very stupid person -like overall in life. She preaches from the text book and does not use any intelligence. Example, the book had a wrong fact and she defended it to the death just because the book said it was true. Everyone in the class knew it was an obvious mistake, but it just shows how pathetic she really is.

Terrible professor, can't teach, makes mistakes during lecture all the time. Says that recitation isn't mandatory, then on the LAST week of classes for the semester decides that recitation attendance will count towards the final grade. Didn't give practice material for the final, but instead just gave a link to another professor's website. Avoid.

Do the homework and go to recitation and you should be fine. The material isn't easy, but by no means is it terribly difficult either. Litman posted all of her notes and the book's notes online, the book isn't even necessary except for the homework, which she encourages cooperation on. Split the book with a friend to alleviate costs.

I was very pleased with Dr. Litman's CS 441 course, and I recommend her. She's pleasant to speak to, though I asked most of my questions to the TA, which is why I left a 4 for helpfulness. Answers to questions may at times seem curt, but don't let that bother you, she's a sweet person.

the quizzes are easy, the tests are decent, but she won't answer any questions you have on the material. if you ask a ? about a problem she will just tell you to ask the ta. half the time the ta doesnt have a clue so you never get an answer. if you like explanation this is not your class.

Rarely answers a question unless there is an answer in the slides. The class is her basically reading the slides. Not very motivating. Hard to learn anything aside from the textbook.

A fun, light, practical course. Not nearly as mathematical as 1571. The assignments are a bit tricky but nothing to worry about.
