Comment:

Professor Potter is the perfect example of what a professor should be. Law can sometimes be a dry subject area but I found myself laughing and engaged at every lecture. I learned so much and enjoyed going to class.

He's a great lecturer, Potter has been doing this for 30+ years and he realy has it down on keeping you engaged and he's pretty funny. pay attention in class, take notes, and take note of what happens in the Supreme Court Cases, and you'll be good. Useful class, Amazing professor

Dirk is awesome! No Homework just quizzes and exams. Dont need text, just go to class and take notes bcuz everything he says and goes over is on the quiz/exam. This class is not boring at all. If you were to take BLAW302 take it with Dirk, he is very good at teaching and keeping you engaged. I promise you wont be disappointed. Have yet to hear meow

Very nice guy and very easy to talk to if you have questions. It's A LOT of lecture but no homework. Gives a lot of quizzes and only 3 tests but they're pretty hard, definitely have to study for them and if you skip class you will be very behind!

Dirk is a very good choice for BLAW 302. Almost no homework. While attendance isn't required, he gives you information you need to study only in class. In order to do well, you must go to class. 5 quizzes but he drops your lowest. Long midterms composed of 50 multiple choice and 5 short answers. He is a great teacher who knows his info.

Awesome teacher! Gives great examples! Text is helpful, but not required if you regularly attend class. He posts slides, but if you don't go to class you miss out on most of the notes. He always says the people who aren't here today won't get this on an exam. Attendance not mandatory, but if you easily want to pass go to class!!!!!!

How do I put this? If someone asks you, "WYD right now?" you reply "studying BLAW" they most likely will say "BORING." Dirk Potter truly changed that stigma for me. He took a generally drab subject and made it extremely interesting. It is obvious he is a professional, which translates into his lectures. Wish he updated grades more often though.

Amazing lectures but do not miss class!! Quizzes and exams is on everything he lectures. No homework or reading (because the textbook is confusing). I highly suggest you record his lectures and listen to them again before quizzes and exams. HUGE HELP! 5 quizzes (lowest is dropped) and 3 exams. Final is not cumulative.

Potter makes BLAW interesting. Show up to every class, ask questions, speak up, and you'll do fine. Reading cases is more important than whole chapters, ESPECIALLY if you pay attention to the lectures. Occasionally cancels class because he is a lawyer too and might have to be in court. He always knows at least a week in advance.

Take great notes and never skip lectures. He's a crotchety old man but if you don't speak to him in person his class is enjoyable, he's got a pretty good stage presence and after years of teaching the same stuff has formulated a decent script for his lectures.

Thought would be an easy A. Tests are WORDY and a bit confusing (which sucked for me, cause tests are not my thing). No need to buy the text if planning on attending every class. Tests based on lectures so take good notes.

Fantastic teacher! He's super nice and gives tons of examples to help you learn the material. Make sure you show up, pay attention, and take notes. The PowerPoints are only an outline. It's an easy A or B if you just pay attention. No homework, just quizzes and tests. Would take him again. He makes business law fun and interesting!

Potter is an outstanding lecturer and actually made me want to go to his class just with how he presents the information. Your entire grade is based on quizzes and exams and those only cover the information talked about in class so be sure to attend. The tests are difficult. Either way, take Potter for BLAW 302 and you won't regret it.

Potter is a nice and funny guy. A professor that is a lawyer in town and has knowledge for law. He uses personal experiences, and students as scenarios for real world situations. Has 3 quizzes, 2 mid terms and final. Mid terms are tuff, study hard. Take him.

Best Professor I've had so far at Chico State! Very down to earth and hilarious.. makes what could be an otherwise dreadful subject very enjoyable to learn. You will learn & retain information in this class. No reason to read the book if you attend class and take notes / pay attention. Exams come right out of class material. Highly Recommend Potter

In terms of clarity, I can't think of a professor better in this regard than him. An exceptional lecturer. The material is boring but he makes it as interesting as he possibly can. His quizzes and exams aren't easy but his lectures cover everything so attendance is pretty much mandatory if you want to pass. If you need to take BLAW302 take him.
