Excellent teacher! Upbeat, friendly, but you will work your tail off. She is a native French speaker, so her accent is beautiful. Except for French 1, all classes are conducted entirely in French. Lots of assignments, no multiple choice. When I studied in France, they were impressed by my French skills.

Madame Merrill is the best French professor I've ever had! I took FR 2, 5, 6, 8 with her. She's tough, but fair, caring, energetic, entertaining, and a NATIVE SPEAKER! Her classes are HARD, as she expects you to LEARN & thus gives lots of hw. If you WORK A LOT, you'll do fine. FR 6 felt like a full time job to me, but I learned A TON & got an A :)

Madame Merrill is a WONDERFUL woman and a wonderful teacher. Her classes are just as fun as they are informative. You WILL be expected to speak, write and learn French (obviously), but if you study - you'll pass the class with no issues. She's very helpful as well and will hold review sessions for anything that you don't understand.

OMG, I can't believe I had this professor 3 years ago. I'm having a nostalgic moment right now. Anyway, you MUST take her. She's really engaging and you must do the work in order to understand the material, or else you're lost. I was a little hesitant about taking French 2 because I know how hard it could get, but she made the subject so clear.

Merrill is a great professor. She is engaging and attractive however she obviously has her favorites like some raters have mentioned and I felt some personal bias. Do all homework so you can do well on tests. Participate on class and be ready when she singles you out, then suck up as much as you can. You will be ok.

I took Professor Merrill's French 1 class the Spring semester of 2012 when I was only a freshman in high school. She is truly an amazing professor and gave me a foundation in French that I couldn't have gotten anywhere else. Now that I'm taking French 2 at my high school, I feel totally ahead of the curve.

I took this class for pure enjoyment of languages. She's a great professor and I highly recommend her. If I really did try, I probably would have gotten an A. She's strict but very kind and and a joy to be around. Make sure you pay attention though, otherwise you'll embarrass yourself in class. Participation is a key to winning in this class.

Merrill =amzing teacher. She does everything she can to make sure you succeed. yes, she does single people out in order to HELP them participate and learn and succed. She's great with French 1 but then you're thrown in with fr3 & 4 and are expected to keep up while she's only teaching in French. As if that's not enough she's always putting you on the spot by calling u out in class when u don't know what the heck she's teaching! Who cates that she's pretty? Or fun? How can we learn at a higher level than we are currently at!! To tip it off she teaches really quickly as if only caring to make sure she covers material rather than that were actually learning!

She is so nice and pretty. She is my favorite teacher. She teaches very well and always tries her best to help you. she will never embarrase you infront of the class, otherwise she'll always find a way to help you. If you want to pass the class all you need to do is be on-time, be always there and pay attention because the rest is so easy :)
