Very cocky and never willing to help students. Class was always unclear and he expected us to know things that non-music majors would never know. Do not take unless you love music or jazz and know A TON about the history of it!! Half our class never showed up and he deducts points each time you are absent. STAY AWAY

This professor is a great guy but teaches an incredibly boring and long class. He told me numerous times that I needed no musical history for Jazz History and he was very wrong. You won't be able to follow his lectures if you don't have some type of musical background.

Lots of fun in class. He is a bubbly, bouncy kinda guy. He has great stories about 50 years ago. Awesome musician! He demands a great deal, but gives back more. He loves his work, loves students that work in his class & willing to help anyone who works hard. Read the books, see Jazz shows he recommends, finally write a good report, & you pass

Great guy - an excellent musician. He most definitely has played with some of the best. He knows his stuff and has an advanced way of teaching. He is a great person to talk to but you better learn your stuff - he's by no means an easy teacher. You will leave having learned a lot, but you'll have to work for your grades. He's always willing to help!

Very knowledgable professor. Shares his life experiences with the class on a daily basis. Encourages students to read book- helpful to outline chapters. He bases the tests on the readings. He is a wonderful person and enjoys helping all his students to succeed & recieve good grades. Good teacher!
