Comment:
Mr. Campbell is clearly into astronomy and wants you to be too. There is no textbook so you have to attend the lectures or you will be left behind. He provides summaries of each class that work for the tests. His explanations of complex ideas are great. I am so glad I took this course.

If you take the time to get to know Mr. Campbell, he is actually a very intelligent and cool person. He explains things very well in the lab and tries to engage you and get you to make connections between topics. Would definitely take a lab with him again.

Class is just lectures and notes on chalkboard. 3 tests and 1 final exam (all multiple choice). His writing is very messy and hard to read, but that's okay because he hands out typed notes of main points after every lecture. No textbook needed, but it can help. Very amusing professor, he will answer any question about any topic really. Coca cola.

Professor Campbell regularly goes off topic during lectures and incoherently moves from topic to topic. Students in his class are left wondering what he is even trying to talk about. He also doesn't use Nexus - which makes it even more difficult. Avoid this professor at all costs for Intro: Astronomy

He regularly leaves the rooms, makes you feel like a complete idiot if you ask questions - even if the lab is on something that has yet to be covered in lecture. Does not respond to emails in a timely manner. I regularly have to ask my friend that is a 3rd year Physics Major to help me.

While I didn't mind the class I am a mature student (graduated over 25 years ago from high school) and never took physics. It should be a prerequisite... The classes are too long and sometimes goes past 9pm which is maddening. The tests are confusing. Need to update this course!

Most boring class of my life. Every week, for three hours, I would fight to stay awake as he spoke in drab monotone. Avoid.

Never giving any kind of lecture, never present in class to assist you or help students. He is too old to teach, he should just go home and rest

Loved his Astronomy class so so much... if Astronomy 2 was available with him, I'd take it even though I'm an Arts major. He is a funny, personable professor, and had really clever ways of describing complex theories. Assignments and tests are wicked easy, but I learned a lot from him... I still use his explanation of gravity as a convo starter!

Overall good prof. extremely passionate about Astronomy. No need to purchase a textbook but attending class is an absolute must! I too received the impression that help outside of class was not an option. His tests are all multiple choice but extremely tricky, almost every question has some variation of "all of the above",etc.

Overall good prof. The classroom in Manitoba hall SUCKED. Didn't like that he used chalk boards because he wrote in tiny cursive letters. Explained things thoroughly and used easy to relate to examples. Very passionate and knowledgeable about Astronomy. Little assignments, quite a few films, 3 tests, and one final exam.

Great, intelligent, smart professor!!! I got the sense that he is not willing to help after class but he knows his stuff. As long as you ask him during class time, he will ensure that you understand what he is talking about. Very open mind!

Amazing prof! This was a required class but ended up being one of my favourites due to the professor. He knows his material and is very good at explaining to non-science students. If I could, I would take this class again. Although I only got an A he receives an A+ for teaching!

i did well in his class. i liked him, he made science easy for the arts students. you have to take notes for his class though b/c he only tests on the lectures. textbook not needed. very nice guy, easy tests and assignments. if you don't want to listen carefully don't take his class. but it is worth it if you do listen.

Hated this class. Campbell goes WAY too fast and writes in pathetically minute writting that you cannot read on the chalkboard. Go take this course with a different prof.

I loved Campbell! Although his tests are kind of confusing and hard, he's very clear with his explanations and will explain things a second, third, or even a fourth time if you ask because you don't understand. He made the course very interesting and I look forward to taking Astronomy II with him!

OMG, how can a teacher be so good?! 5 years at this school and I FINALLY found him. He opened my eyes to the most facinating aspect of science: Science is NOT the truth, but rather what we know today. Definately recommend the course if you can get Campbell. You'll probably end up loving Astronomy.
