This class was a time consuming classes. You have to write a lab report for each lab, but that is really your saving grace for your grade. He has office hours and will look over your lab report before you turn it in, which means basically 100% on each lab report. The final and midterm require some studying. You def need to read the lab manual.

Dr. Elbers is not a bad guy. He tries to be funny and does small demonstrations occasionally. We only had 3 test including the final. He gives a lot of pop quizzes, usually one question, but it is open notes. Sometimes when he is teaching, he shows the wrong way to do things and it gets confusing. If you don't go to class you'll fall behind

Some of the notes are online, definitely need to use textbook to get some notes that you missed in class. He talks and do some experiment throughout the class. Tests are fairly easy.

Will check your lab report for errors before you turn it in for credit. Tests were easy. He often rushes you through the lab which is annoying. Real stickler on significant digits, but that is every lab teacher.

He offers a revision anytime before the lab is due. but he's unreliable. some days he wont show up to office hours at all. he's not very good at explaining in lab and isnt very eager to help in the lab at all. That being said i thoroughly enjoyed his class. He isn't very tough at grading and his exams are kinda easy. except the bonus. i recommend.

Had him for both 123 and 124, best lab teacher at SELU! If you bring your lab report to him before its due he will tell you what to fix. So no excuse not to make a perfect grade on all of them. Read & be familiar w/ the chapter before class. He gives bonus if you know your stuff! Willing to answer any and all questions. Very friendly and humorous!!

Demonstrates each lab before you have to do it. He also gives a lecture to explain everything first. Pay attention to his demonstrations and take notes and you will do good.

Tests are hard.He gives only 2 test and a final exam. for the 2 tests I got both Fs so I met with him bc I was going to drop his class and he told me not to. do the bonus assignment and do better on the final. Don't listen to him. he made it sound like he was going to bump me up to a D. on the bonus the whole class only got 4-5 pnt /15. quiz r hard

I find him to be difficult. He does not repeat anything so write fast. His test are brutal and I study. I maintain a C but I am a 3.6 student. Maybe it's the material. I expected a more chemistry based class but we have studied electricity, car engines, and fossil fuels. You have two 100 pt tests, and the 200 pt final. That's it.STUDY for his test!

I have found him great. 45 minutes of movies followed by 15 minutes of magic and 15 minutes of lecture! Take to get an A. He gives different opportunities for extra credit.

Stay away from him if you're taking a class for science majors with him. He is ruthless in his grading. He expects very specific details in his lab reports and takes off big time for small things. You'll end up putting forth a lot of effort for mediocre grades. Not worth it.

AWESOME! I don't like science AT ALL! Dr. Elbers drew diagrams and did in class demonstrations that really made the information make sense. There is not really a study guide or notes, but I was able to make a B by just taking notes in class! He does not try to trick you with test questions. Usually there are 2 answers to choose from so go to class!

Prof. Elbers' class was very fun, and interesting. I had no intrest in Chem. before his class, but he made it exciting to learn. He posts sample test online and his test are very similar to that. I would definetly recommend him

It's definitely easy to get an A in this class you just have to do the work for the lab. You have to do a report for each lab and write a procedure summary for each one, so like I said you have to do the work. He is pretty particular about the reports so pay attention when he tells you what he wants. Other than that easy teacher and easy A.

I am not the best in Chemistry.. in my lecture class i made a 40% on one of my test(not this class) even but a 97% on his midterm and a 15/15 on every lab report. i go to him to look over my lab report before its due each week and he really appreciates that and it really helps me out. i plan to take him for my next CLAB!
