Great teacher! Really makes you think. Lots of discussion and critical thinking. She is a strong woman and her heart is in her teaching. She wants the younger generation to be just as passionate about Hawaiian issues as she is. Everyone should have Trask as a professor before they graduate!!!

a very widely misunderstood woman. like others had said, she's not for everyone. but she can debate you to six feet under the ground and laugh about it because you thought that she doesn't know what she's talking about. the point about this professor is that she's put in her hours, she's done her research, she formulates her own opinions, and stands 100% behind it. it's sad that people can't respect her for just that alone. i love hearing her speak, and i think she is a VERY beautiful Hawaiian woman.

Intelligent, radical and BLUNT. She gets to the point quickly and you better be on your toes. She's also gracious and sincerely caring - I would never have had the nerve to follow my education down the path I'm taking now without her encouragement. She truly changed my life.

I think people are either put off by her or are quite enamored by what she has to say. I for one respect her for strong stance in what she believes in. However, she is quite contradictory at times. She says something along the lines of people born in Hawaii (who dont have Hawaiian blood) and claim to be Hawaiian at heart is disrespectful and ignorant. What about her? Hawaiian blooded woman born in CALIFORNIA. I think both situations are negated equally don't you think?

Haunani has been such an inspiration to so many people, myself included. She strads for her rights as an indigenous person and the rights of all other indigenous peoples. Only those who are scared of the truth and of the harsh reality of what the US government has done to Hawai`i and its people will say that she is a bad instructor. She is truly a person who I admire and give my utmost respect to, she has earned it!
