This class, Measuring the Sky, the lab to go along with the astronomy 001 lecture course, is AWFUL!!!!! Under no circumstances should anyone take this course. Way too many hours of work for only one credit. Manley is impossible to understand for he is nearing senility, the material is difficult to grasp, and the final project will kill you. BEWARE!

Crazy old guy that screams at students and kicks peoples' desks (all in good fun of course). Terrible lecturer and knows it, but homeworks meant to have you research astronomy rather than just listen to him. Didn't make sense to grade on a bell curve in a class of 20 people. Exams are tough! Challenged class to a "chalk throwing" contest for bagels

Don Manley himself is amusing and incredibly interesting just to listen to; however, his teacher in pretty much incomprehensible. Unfortunately Don did not teach one thing/fact/subject properly the entire semester. I'm not even sure what he talked about.

dons a little nutty and his grading system is a little wack but i had fun in the class. hes pretty scatterbrained but the work is easy and you can just ask him the questions on the HW in class and hell answer it for you. only 2 exams and 3 HWs plus 1-2 papers

YES!! THE MANLEY! Don is thEE shiznizzle. flippin hilarious just to be in the old guys presence. If you need a lab science- DO THIS ONE. ABSOLUTELY GREAT. serioulsy- hes gotta be the funniest old dude in the universe- and he knows all about the universe too... just ask him (actually, dont bother asking- he'll tell you anyways)

this guy loves his stuff and will help you get the same feeling. However his organization of assigments,homework,tests are crazy, his syllabus is indecipherable with a grading system that is by far the most complicated and challenging ever devised, the work load also for an intro class was just plain insane.

Don is Fun to talk to during lectures and funny to watch teach. However, it's extremely easy to get lost and once you are lost you are gone for the rest of the class. Grading is weird. You can fail both exams but still end up with a C if you did all HW

He is a nice guy and very funny, but as a teacher he is hard to follow. He only handled the observation part of the course, but when he did teach the class it was much better than having Prof. Rankin who's rating you can go look at now.
