I'm not going to lie, when I first came to Tech I really disliked Smith. After four years of his classes he is one of my favorite professors. I still wish there was someone else to teach lecture based classes but for programming classes he is the best. Expect work. You will not pass a Smith class without working for it but you will learn.

Smith has to be my favorite professor at tech. He isn't the best at lecturing and his tests are VERY difficult to study for, but college isn't supposed to be easy. Visit him in his office hours and get to know him a little and it will help you in the long run. Don't expect him to spoon feed you he gets satisfaction from watching his students squirm

The best CS professor at Tech. very helpful if he thinks you need it, other wise ... He has random snow day even when it doesn't snow which was great. Tests are my favourite. they were meaty, ie if you did good on them, you've learnt something. the things with Smith is NO B.S.

painfully the best teacher in the CS department, you just have to do your work. There's no getting out of working. On the personality, the guy is bitter, he has his good days and bad, just cant but him in a mold, nothing fits him.

Smith is the man. Admitedly, his tests are rather hard, and I guarantee you won't pass his class unless you learn something, but that's why we are in college in the first place. His lectures are to the point, but he has fun with it. Smith is very helpful outside of class if you ask for his help and is entertaining in and out of class. "Woo hoo!"

Good teacher, but his test are the devil. He is very unclear on what he wants from his test questions. Don't go to him for help. He will never give you a straighth answer. You will leave his office more confused than when you entered. BEWARE!

The man is incompetent. Smith's lectures are the bold print from the book, poorly explained no less. His assignments are a joke and worth no real credit. His tests are essays with unclear questions which test how well you can regurgitate his notes.
