I read some comments on here that say his tangents all tie back in to the material -- DISAGREE. He spent the first two days (3+ hours) of the semester reading us the syllabus (it was a single page). The average grade on exam one was 51%, and he said that is typical for his classes. The lab quizzes are easy, but the lecture exams are tough.

I was really anxious about taking Takeda after reading some of the comments left below. Due to my work schedule I had no choice, but to register in his class. BEST decision I made. This class is context driven. You must study! Follow the worksheets that he provides! Add/Memorize the w/s and pay close attention to lectures!

The most caring & passionate professor I've ever met. The subject matter is difficult, & he does talk a lot, but all of his tangents tie into a bigger picture. He won't talk about something unless it's important so pay attention! He is extremely smart, and can read people well. If you aren't giving it your all, he can tell. One of the best profs!

Was a little skeptical taking Professor Takeda's class because of previous reviews but honestly it wasn't that bad at all. He's funny and always available to help if needed. The first test is the hardest so don't get discouraged. He drops an exam and 2 quizzes and offers 'incentive oppurtunites'. Micro is hard but I really recommend taking Takeda

He gives "incentive opportunity" points a lot (its extra credit but doesn't like the word extra credit) there are 7 quizzes and 3 tests, dropping lowest test and two lowest quizzes. STUDY the lecture papers he gives you everything will be on the test (I promise you that). Study hard and put the effort in and you'll be fine! I would retake his class

I was very nervous to take professor Takeda because I had heard so many negative things about him. I received an A in his class and really suggest you take him! His lectures do go on forever but if you put in the time to study his class is easy. He also gives alot of "extra credit" even though he doesn't call it that. The extra credit helps!

Professor Takeda gives you everythng you need to get an A in his class, it's up to you to put in the effort. Three exams, 7 quizzes, drops lowest exam, and 2 lowest quizzes, one essay and offers extra credit. Take lots of notes. Pay attention to the questions he asks during lecture, those will be on the exams. He actually gives you the answers.

He will make you hate science and your life if you take his class. I used to love science, but I'd rather flip burgers for the rest of my life than sit through one of his rambling lectures ever again.

He is an awful teacher. I have always been an A student and I am struggling. the whole class studied for hours for the first exam and almost no one even passed. He's that bad that an entire class failed his exam. I see in the past they've had tutors that help, but his tutor, Enrique, is worthless. He is not helpful at all and kind of a jerk.

Literally the worst. He openly mocks students in class for any mistakes they make. His lectures are just him rambling for hours with no end. There is no PowerPoint or even a direction that's easy to follow. Won't help, gets annoyed with questions and gives no hint of what's on the exams. Any of the other micro professors here are better.

He has a majority of his tests and quizzes on quilt, but do not rely solely on those. STUDY STUDY STUDY. Also listen to his lectures, even though he goes off topic.

Takeda is nice, he can get frustrated with some basic questions. It is a 200 level bio class, so he expects you to have a decent background in biology. The exams are tough and you will need every minutes so study his lectures and read your study handouts. Go to his office hours or email him, you'll find things much easier if get help.

This class is extremely hard but takeda means well, Crams in a lot of material to each exam but if you study you will do well in his class! He gives study guides, so memorize those, and pay attention to everything he says in lecture and take good notes because what he says will be on exam, go to his tutor who helped out incredibly and use quizlet!

This class was difficult, i thought professor Takeda was helpful, if you participate in class. I realized, if you ask his questions during lecture, then he'll go over the material more thoroughly. His handout are extremely helpful if you're reading the book. Its stream lines all the info you need to know. If have questions go to his office house.

SO HARD! Perhaps its just a tough subject but the tests we're crazy difficult! But if your good at memorizing and have the time to REALLY STUDY then you should be able to pass. Tutoring helps. The subjects itself is extremely interesting and helpful for medical field but the professor was :/ some extra credit

This professor is SO hard! Expects you to know everything! Not really clear when he lectures he expects you to google things and figure out the answers. He lectures for hours no power points. I emailed him a lot and it was helpful. I wouldn't of passed the class without his lab assistant who also does private tutorings.

OMG this was the hardest class I've ever taken. Thank god there was a tutor because I would not have been able to do it without his clarification. The material and lab dilutions were so confusing. He is also the lab assistant so he was pretty much my go to guy. I would recommend if he's going to be there again because him and Takeda explain it all

Took it during the summer, not the smartest idea . I thought i was going to fail because there were so many handouts. Luckily there was a lab assistant that helped out and gave free tutoring sessions after lab. He does help out, but don't expect him to give you the answers, he just guides you in the right direction. Private tutoring helped as well.

Professor Takeda is incredibly clear about what he expects. You just need to listen to what he lectures on. He loves to give you questions during lecture and lab; those are gold! Pay attention to those because he is telling you what to study. Lab organisms carries over to lecture so pay attention and take the time to learn the dichotomous keys.
