Dona Brown is an ANGEL. My only critique of the class is that it was solely papers based on books we read which made it seem kind of like an English class, but Dona is not an unfair grader. Besides this, she is so intelligent, sweet, and just all around amazing.

Awesome! Very flexible with paper topics and understanding when you're forced to skim the reading. Take a directed reading with Dona and you will examine New England society from more angles than you ever thought possible in a very relaxed setting. Discussions are natural conversations. Encourages grad students to enjoy their personal lives!

I really like Prof. Brown in HST 011. Lecture heavy but if you did the reading and actively listened in class the tests were fair and easy to get As on

Dona is awesome. She knows her stuff very well and does a pretty good job of teaching what she knows. My only complaints are that she can be disorganized in class with her powerpoint slides and that when it comes to test time, her study guides are much more specific than what she teaches in class, so that can be annoying. But overall she's great

Dona is one of the nicest women I've ever met but she is a TERRIBLE lecture-er. Her lectures are all over the place and so very disorganized. Her slides provide no help at all for note taking. The textbooks help because she basically lectures directly from them. So as long as you read the assigned chapters you should be OK.

Dona Brown is very nice and easy to approach. I got an A without opening the texts books, but I did take APUSH. You need to show up to most classes because like most professors she wants you to use material she talks about on the tests. Take it. Its easy.

Great Professor, and a very nice lady. Course was not difficult, but I felt I learned a lot from it. Extremely fair and accommodating. She can be somewhat scatterbrained at times, but so am I so I can't judge.

I absolutely love Dona. She is adorable and funny. You can tell she loves the material and her lecture style makes you love it too. Tests are blue book format but not difficult if you go to class and keep up with the book. She is my favorite teacher at UVM. She inspired me to be a history minor! I'm in HST 195 with her now and it's also amazing!

Dona is really sweet and loves what she does. That is clear. She gets embarrassed easily and laughs a lot, which can make things awkward.

Dona Brown is a story teller. Her lectures are done in a manner which tell a story. Has said you dont need to go to class only if you want to. Really nice woman but the lectures get boring fast. 3 tests per semester and 5 "blogs" required to be done online. Liked Brown, wasnt a huge fan of the class itself

Not the most appealing class I've taken, but if you pay attention, the material is actually really interesting. Besides, Dona (as we are on a first name basis) is a very enthusiastic, involved, and intelligent teacher. She's worth every minute of your time. EVVVVEEERRRYYY

Dona was really into the material for this course which made it interesting to go to class. Minimal work required, no actual exams, just four 5 page papers. Could spend more time talking about more modern history, but no one's perfect.
