A great guy with great stories. I would definitely take him again. If you go to his office hours regularly then he works with you to make sure you understand the material. If you dont ask questions or anything then hell just assume you know it. But hes a great dude and I would take that class again with him

He randomly selects ppl to answer questions in lecture so sit in the middle if you don't want to be called. You can tell he is trying but he is not the best at explaining concepts. His exams are 10x harder than what he teaches in class and averages were always in the 40s and 50s. Do a lot of book problems and his lecture problems and youll survive.

Donald Blake is a very nice guy and a great professor. While he does get off topic sometimes, his tangents are in relation to whatever he is teaching. He tries very hard to make students interested and cares that his class is doing well. If you study the material thoroughly, (in particular the math portions) you will do well.

His tests are extremely long for no reason so keep that in mind and he does not give partial credit. Your grade is based entirely off midterms and final. A great guy outside of class but a terrible lecturer.

Very lecture heavy, test are too long, lecture is a must-go but is not helpful at all. I believe this class is harder than 1A

The class is Lecture heavy however the material is not adequate enough for the exams. The reading doesn't help, and the lack of contact between student and teacher cripples this class.

He was an ok professor. In order to pass the class just do a lot of practice problems and do the practice tests that are given by the peer tutors at UCI.

Blake is a very nice person, super caring and is honestly interesting to talk to. But when it comes to lectures, he easily goes off on tangents and isn't 100% clear. Nothing is mandatory so go to the best TA for your course and stick to them. Without Nick (my TA) I would've greatly suffered. Get the pdf of the book. Tests are too long to finish.

He's very caring and kind. I enjoyed every moment in his class and office hours. I got ready eyes once I handed in my final and shook his hand for the last time. Would definitely take again.

I took the Don over fall semester and I loved him. This class does require you to put in the work, but go to office hours and you'll be fine, take advantage of study days with peer tutors and pay attention to the slides reread them. Read the textbook! Shortly after I dropped out of UCI lol hate that school

He was a great start to chemistry at UCI! He really cares about his students. His exams are lengthy but as long as you do practice problems you will do fine.

Great professor. Very challenging class. Definitely go to office hours if possible. Discussion sections are not mandatory but definitely helpful. You'll get out of this class what you put in.

He is a really nice guy but what he taught in lecture was not relevant to his tests. His lectures were very general and basic and then the tests would be so hard (no point in going!) Avg. for tests were typically 50%... Two midterms one final. Do textbook problems, peer tutor mock exams, and watch tons of chem videos you can definitely pass.

It's not necessarily that this class is hard, it is just how Blake structures it. It is never clear exactly what he wants you to know and his exams are SO. LONG. Nobody ever finishes them. He is also grumpy on exam days, so beware. Discussions and lectures are not mandatory. No homework (just optional practice problems). You don't need a clicker.

Okay Blake is a nice guy and he got along with all the students very well, but he's not a good lecturer. Goes off topic, makes you learn things on your own, confusing explanations even with something as simple as moles, 2 midterms and final are 100% your grade. Exams are wayyy too long. Average for everything was an F. But I still got a B.

Interesting professor. Really cares about his students. Brings his dog sometimes. Gives partial credit on exams. Just study and you'll pass. Not too difficult. He may go off topic sometimes during lecture, but hes great. 2 midterms and a final. No homework but there is practice problems.

Lectures were pointless. Discussions were pointless. This entire class was pointless. He did not know how to teach, what so ever. Worst professor I have ever had. You are teaching yourself the material the ENTIRE time. Good luck.
