Comment:
Dr. Boerth teaches one of the hardest classes in college, organic chem. However, Dr. Boerth makes it manageable. He sends out practice exams for each of his 5 exams (including the final). He drops the lowest in class exam grade, the 2 lowest quiz grades, and usually scales his exams. During his recitations, he answers any questions asked.

In all honesty, no matter who you take Organic Chemistry with, it's going to be a hard class. You're going to have to work for your grade. Dr. Boerth is a really nice guy and he does not want to see his students do poorly. He is as fair as he can be, and if he thinks something puts students at a disadvantage, he'll fix it. Hard class, good guy.

Great guy, very intelligent and can converse like a normal person. Not like a socially awkward scientist. Not the most passionate teacher and I feel the exceptions are higher than they should be. Overall a survivable class but I would never put myself through one of his classes again if I could avoid it, sorry Dr. Boerth.

He seems like a nice guy but an awful teacher. All he does is read his powerpoint presentation during lectures...word for word. He doesn't care about his students passing the course and announced several times through out the semester for people to drop the course if they were having trouble. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!

He's a really nice old guy, but good lord he can't teach worth his life. He's very smart and obviously knows chemistry, but it's hard to get across to everyone. Exams are incredibly long and hard, and the supplemental problems he gives are nothing like the exam. OWL is a pain. The only good thing is that he allows group work during recitation.

Boerth is a nice guy, but he has no passion for teaching. He does not care about student passing his class. I went and talk to him on the first week of class and asked for his help since my backgroand in freshment chem wasn't very strong. His respond was that I should withdraw. Like I said before, a nice guy but not a passionate professor.

I don't know why people are redeeming Dr. Boerth as a bad teacher. As for not helping people, he scales a lot and gives plenty of opportunities to 'up' your grade. I don't know how he doesn't give notes when his entire years lectures are in the campus bookstore... Dr. Boerth knows his stuff and you need visual imagination to do good.

He spends most of his time outside of lab than during lab. Whenever you need him for something, he's not around..just walking..chatting..who knows. Sometimes he tells you to do something and when the expt doesn't come out right, he asks what you did wrong..and you tell him what he told you to do...and he has no recollection of it.

Dr. Boerth should NOT be teaching organic chemistry. He is a nice enough guy, but he has no passion for his job, and no desire to help students pass his class. The day before the first exam, a kid in my class asked him what time he would be in his office and his response was that he wouldn't. He doesn't answer questions and lectures are unclear.

Dr. Boerth has to be one of the worst professors I have ever had. When asked a question from his own exam he couldn't answer the question without the answer key. And he expects us to know what he wants? Overall horrible professor, I do NOT recommend him.

The calmest guy on earth. He's soft spoken, has tons of patience and is an easy grader.Very helpful too. However prepare yourself for taking the longest tests you have ever seen. Once, it took me five hours to finish a test. And I was fast!!!
