One of the few professors that actually gets what college is supposed to be about-- exploring a diverse curriculum based on intellectual curiosity, rigorous critique, and interdisciplinary analysis rather than just theoretical garbage (what i've seen in most other art history classes at grinnell college).

One of the most pretentious, happily-encased-in-his-stuffy-ivory-tower jerks I've encountered here. We DID have a lot of cool readings, but...incessant throat-clearing + name-dropping re: artistic/philosophical/literary elites every 10 seconds + TOTALLY unclear assignments didn't make the significant amount I DID learn in this class worth it.
