There is NOTHING negative to say about Dr. Lovejoy! He's incredibly smart, funny, respectful, and understanding. Something comes up? He's there for you. Considering changing the emphasis of your music major? He encourages you and makes you feel good! He is an excellent advisor and teacher. Take band! You will NOT regret it! (plus it pads your GPA)

I have Lovejoy for lessons, ensemble along with band. I find him a fantastic teacher his main goal is to make his students improve. He doesn't care if you're a music major or not. Attendance doesn't affect your grade if you don't show up but it is expected that you go. As long as you show up you get an A.

Professor Lovejoy is a fabulous teacher here at WSU. I had him for one semester and would take him again if I could. He really is passionate about music and his career. He does expect you to be at 90% or more of the band's activities out of class. He does also expect you to be at class and gets very picky about attendance. Otherwise, he's a joy!

Great teacher. Main goal is to make students better musicians. If you go to class, and do what he asks of you, it won't be a hard class. One of my favorite classes and teachers. The class is always interesting, and the people are great. Respect him, and he will respect you back.

The music presented is challenging enough, but it would be nicer if students could be held accountable for their music-playing other than being consistently reminded to practice. Tests on the music would actually make the band better. Lovejoy doesn't seem to like pep band or to allow pep band trips, either. Just a heads up.

Great professor! My opinion of him is very high and I greatly respect him. He will take no nonsense and seems like a tough guy but he is friendly. He makes an effort to get to know everyone's name very early on. Music is very important to him and he doesn't like when people downgrade the band's importance.

Lovejoy is a nice guy, but odd. He is very passionate about what he does. He has tizzy fits all the time about attendance, the school administration, & other random things which wastes rehearsal time.. which means you never get out early. Unless you are a music major or very into band, I would not recommend taking this for an arts elective.

Lovejoy is AWSOME! he is a great teacher, just dont get on his bad side! Don't expect a lot of niceness if you want to go home early, but if you are dedicated he will make it worth while and is very enjoyable! Sometime will even let you out early.

Dr. Lovejoy is a great guy but for the amount of work demanded for the SWE is ridiculous. For a one credit class.... monday wed. and friday of band plus graduation and pep band in the fall... not worth it to me!!!

Wastes too much time in band complaining about students wasting the rehearsal time by not practicing. Hmm. Music = way too easy; high school level. Cool that he's dedicated to the group, but he needs to get a life besides the SWE.

Lovejoy seems friendly but underneath the surface he is a petty and selfish individual. He doesn't care about anything unless it benefits himself, and is very hypocritical when it comes to many situations involving students and faculty. Plus his lessons destroyed a student's trumpet embouchure.

Really nice guy. He knows and cares about everyone in his band, and there are a LOT of people in band. Really makes an effort to make his band great. But, a warning, don't take band if you're not going to take it seriously. It requires a lot of time and dedication, and you don't want to ****him off
