I was initially intimidated by the amount of readings and quizzes on the syllabus. However just by listening to Professor Overton’s lectures he has the ability capture your interest while giving you the information you need to do well on the quizzes. He keeps you updated on grades constantly and is a very nice guy. Just sit up front he speaks soft.

Donald Overton (not to be confused with the other Overton, Willis) is extremely intelligent, humble, and thorough. The course has a lot of information to process and the quizzes can be confusing at first but he's really helpful if you go ask him for help.

It took me so long to find a favorite professor and now he is gone. Come back Dr. Overton! I miss how he would manage to teach massive amounts of information in an hour and twenty minutes. Most inspiring person I have met. If he does come back to Temple take him no matter what.

Comment:

Dr. Overton may be the most intelligent professor I've had to date. He is passionate, extremely organized and if you enjoy animals and evolution this class is a must. Albeit, he may not be teaching here much longer. But if you have the means to take him, you ought to. A lot of reading, but all pretty interesting. His quizes are odd, but not bad.

One of my favorites at Temple. Really interesting material, he doesn't dock you for petty stuff and he is very smart. He still sends me e-mails about animals, I love it! :)

I liked this Professor, He wasn't going to accept the mediocracy from the EP material field, His choice in material was very informative. The quizes were weird, but if you read most of the assignments due, you would be fine.

very smart, knows everything you can about evolutionary psychology. weekly quizzes are sometimes difficult, and there is a lot of material covered in the course. sometimes overwhelming but if you pay attention and do the readings, not too bad.

One of the best psychology professors I've had so far. Gives partial credit on quizzes, which is really helpful. Really interesting course material, really intelligent man. I really appreciated his honesty about the field, you're not going to get that from anyone else.

If you love animals I would take his class. His class does require a decent amount of work (weekly quizzes). He is the most intelligent prof I've taken at Temple. Passionate, unbiased, reasonable, and knows his stuff. I wish there were more professors like him!

His class involves a lot of work with weekly quizzes. A lot of reading but if you LOVE animals, cognition, evolution, etc then I would without a doubt take this class! His lecture notes are packed with references. He doesn't **** or make stuff up on the whim. He is extremely knowledgeable. I would recommend him, but plan to work

I recommend this class for anyone who has a love for animals and cognition. He takes attendence. Weekly quiz on Mondays which were pretty easy if you did the readings.

Super Nice! I would def take him again. I love the animal videos and alot of the class info. Its a bit much info and reading but luckily he puts everything in the notes. Either always show up for class or do the reading.

He's a sweet man. He's very fun to draw caricatures of. Lectures were just him talking for 40 minutes- nobody really seemed to have a clue what was going on a lot of the time. Videos of monkeys and elephants and stuff were fun. Also, hard to determine what he wants you to study for weekly quizzes. Hard to pay attention in class.

nice man, but class was a little on the dry side, gives quizes every monday to boost grades, lets you know exactly whats on each quiz, text wasn't really used, just try to keep up with the readings, overall he's really nice and tries his best.
