the worst teacher. His homework's are all online and you expect his tests to be simplistic. Do not assume simplicity. This is by far the hardest course I have ever taken! I asked him if there is anything I can do to better prepare myself for his exams and he said "idk" "no not really". He expects you to read his thought process on exams.

Not a bad guy. However, he does have the rare tendency to confuse himself: on at least two occasions, after doing a problem in class, he would say "Oh wait, that is incorrect...". Be prepared to do your homework (two to five problems), as it is collected almost every day.

Listen, this guy is one of the nicest people ever... until he grades your test. I am amazing at mathematics, and this was nothing but a refresher from high school, HOWEVER, if you do not do it his way, you fail. He gives easy work, and then blindsides you on the test... he confuses himself in class on problems. DO NOT take his class. Please.

He is a nice guy inside the classroom but when it comes to his tests. It's like he's a different person. They are impossible and the class average is almost always around a 70 and he doesn't curve it at all. You need to have been a huge computer nerd for years to even get a B in any of his classes

He is pretty mean and even if you get the correct answer while using a correct, universally accepted method, Platte will not accept it for who knows what reason. He also grades homework very harshly and forces students to use unnecessary graphs while solving inequalities that wastes paper and time. He turns a 5 min problem into a 20 minute one.

Without a doubt the worst teacher I have ever had. He is not at all helpful and barely knows what he's doing as it is. He refuses to help his students and is just plain ignorant and rude. It seems like he gets off on bossing around college students who are significantly smarter than he is. DO NOT TAKE

Platte is the man. I had him for computer operations and networks. He is deff my favorite professor at Mercyhurst University. AWFUL. FAIL. Switched my major because of him. Does not know how to explain concepts well, which is the MOST important part of the class. He skips too many steps, so unless you're an expert math major you won't understand much of what he's doing. He is never willing to help. He's too busy working out at the gym, which hasn't done much for him.

-Difficult class, especially when learning how to do the math itself and learning how to put it into the software for the computer. He does take points off of homework if it's incorrect. Very MONOTONE when speaking! But if you persist in asking him for help, he will help you out. attend extra math sessions before midterm/final if they are offered!!
