Saari is an excellent professor. His lecture covers a lot of interesting materials including the Nobel Prize winning Black-Scholes equation towards the end of the course. Getting an A isn't difficult as long as you attend class. I would 100% recommend taking Math of Finance with Saari.

Material is not hard but just takes a while to absorb. Study groups reccomended. Professor is clear and very good at making complicated problems easy. Besides math 2a,b,j, stats skills are definitely needed for this class (15A and 15B). But overall easy A.

This professor was the best professor I've had so far at UCI! The material is very challenging; make sure to ask for extra review sessions and go to office hours - math TA is best. Get a study group of good people and work! The material is very useful. The professor has yet to write up the book for the last portion of the class, so take good notes!

Hardest class I have ever taken! By far! The material is incredibly confusing and I found his online book to be useless once we got to the later material. It's cross listed with an upper division math class. Math 2B is definitely not enough for this class. I would suggest you avoid this class by all means unless you have no other choice.

class materials are not that hard, just need lots of time to absort them. he's a good prof., but sometimes just goes over stuff too quick. he likes to assume that the students know how to do problems sometimes, "next step is just a very simple XXX(eg.:change of variables, etc.), you all know how to do that..." or something like that...

Very hard class. Be aware, the reprequisite says math 2b is enough, in fact you need to know multivariable to do well in this class. And attend very lecture and discussion if you want to get an A. oh, an I ACED this class. hahaha

As a econ major this class was Difficult, but I did learned alot. There is alot of math involved and less econ, but the professor is not against you in this class he is trying to help you learn the difficult material. DO the HW and you will do well on the tests. get into a good Group. Took it, worked HARD and never regreted it for one minute.

awesome professor! gives good explanations and examples. exams are fairly easy if you do the homework and practice exams. does not give any tricky questions. gives make-up exams, however these are much harder because they are more conceptual.

If you are not interested in the mathematics of investment and finance techniques, do not take this course. For an econ student, it's guaranteed to be the hardest conceptual math course at UCI. If you half-ass the course, you won't get much out of it. But if you take it seriously, you'll learn a lot

lectures are exciting and animated. he lectures completely without notes. really knows his subject very very well, but sometimes arrogant. it was a bit annoying how there was no book and no office hours, but it was okay. midterm was very similar to practice midterm.
