Washburn is a highly religious man and for some unknown reason is teaching a religion class. He doesn't leave his biases at the door and is not afraid to express them. After being told I was "lost at sea" and implying that I have no moral compass, I would never recommend his classes to anyone.

Very easy class. Took Power of Words the first semester at MCLA. By far, easiest class. Unless you don't do your work and don't show up for class or you're an idiot, you won't get any less than an A. Great guy! Strongly recommend.

I took Power of Words and Irish American Lit with old Washy. While his student run structure took some getting used to, they were some of the best classes I took at MCLA. Much better discussing with fellow students than having a teacher lecture to you

Open note quizzes. Its a lot of reading, and theres a quiz every class (so attendance is essentially mandatory) but its all do-able. People who complain probably wait till the night before to read, if spaced out the 20 pages over 2 or 3days isnt bad at all. Give respect and you will get it back, hes a great person to converse with as well.Very wise

He designed his class so he has to do practically no work. His assignments are vague, and it is blatantly obvious that he does not read them. Easy enough overall, but a giant waste of time. Take a class where you'll learn something and aren't subjected to his self help books and tiresome babble. Yes folks, when he does talk it only gets worse.

A good guy, but it's the students teaching/quizzing students, with him as moderator. We'd break out into teams and quiz each other with our Q&K's (that's Quiz & Keys). I bcame known for coming up with the vaguest, most absurd Q&K questions. I did well in the classes though, since we all went at our own pace.

I learned nothing from this class. It's boring and repetitive, the books are stupid. The subject matter has nothing to do with the power of words. He's a nice man, and the class is easy to do well in, but most of the time what he says makes no sense.

This class was a stinking, rotten piece of dung. It wasn't taught by the teacher, instead students were required to read and report on chapters of books. We would be better off just reading the books, though, of course, the books had nothing to do with the course, and many of them were SELF-HELP books, and had nothing to do with the origins of word

He is one of the truest teachers I have ever known. His class structure was brilliant to me because it pushes self exploration and education to the highest level. Also, he was a true teacher because he offered many important lessons that mattered beyond the classroom and the simple subject.
