Professor Carey is such an amazing professor. He is so helpful and loves his students. If you put in the effort and show up to class it is impossible to fail. He gives you the notes and gives you extra credit and makes participation comfortable and class enjoyable.

Carey is an awesome professor. His tests are hard, but no more difficult than AP Euro level tests. Your grade is based on 2 essays, 3 exams , be mindful of that.

Prof. Carey is a good professor and I would definitely take another course with him if I had the option to. He is very knowledgeable and is able to make whatever he is discussing very interesting. I took and honors seminar with him and it was very lecture based. We had an open notes midterm and our final was a presentation and paper.

Dr. Carey is a humorous, inspirational, enthusiastic, devoted and caring professor. He's there for conversations so just actively participate: tell him what you think, what you in-class problems are, read before class, try to think independently. Once you developed enthusiasm for his class's subject, the paper would not be so much of a burden.

Dr. Carey is one of the best professors I've ever had. He can make any topic extremely interesting. His class always felt relaxing and at home. (Though sometimes he is hard to contact outside of class!)

Professor Carey is a genuinely nice man who cares about his students. No homework, but the exams are a little difficult. He likes his students to participate so be prepared to be called on in class. He is very clear on what he expects on his papers and what will be on the test. Overall, good professor and fair class.

Easily my favorite professor of the semester. The lectures were always interesting. He knows exactly the best way to convey what he's teaching, and definitely cares about the students. He's always willing to help in any way he can. Dr. Carey is an awesome professor; I'd happily take one of his classes again!

Seriously is a great professor. His tests are a little hard and you most likely can't ge a good grade without studying but he basically tells you exactly what he wants to see in your papers. On top of this he's literally the nicest and most personable guy ever. He goes out of his way to get to know you and make sure that you're doing well.

He is such a nice professor. His tests are definitely challenging but the papers and extra credit really help you if you're in trouble. He's always willing to help but you have to be the one to reach out to him. Would definitely take him again.

Tests are very difficult. He was incredibly slow on giving grades back (for both tests and essays). Because we only had for grades for the class, and 3/4 of those grades were given after the mid-term, it was hard to see how you were actually doing. He never replied to emails which was a drag, but he loved when you showed up to office hours. 6/10

One of the best professors I've had. Took his class as a gen, but I would love to take another class with him, even though I dont have to. Only 3 exams and 2 short papers as midterm final. Hes such a genuinely nice man, and is very approachable. He'd see me sitting in cafe between classes and would come over, sit down, and chat for a little while.

One of the most personable professors I have ever had. He knew everyone by name, remembered details, and was very kind. He knew what he was talking about, and gave interesting lectures. The tests and quizzes were an easy grade, and the few papers we had were predictable. A great professor, fair and helpful in-class and outside. Would recommend.

I actually took this class in Irish history at Queens College. I REALLY like Professor Carey. Even though the subject material wasn't my favorite, I gained so much from the course and genuine enjoyed it. The professor is invested in his students and really wants to help them succeed. His passion really comes across in his lectures.
