I had him for Chem 1A and B. He is an excellent professor. Tests are longer than other professors' and they are tricky. Make sure go through the questions at least twice. One more thing, his lecture notes are really helpful and his name is even on our textbook.

Comment:

Took this professor twice. I W'd the 1st time, and failed the 2nd. He is very hard to understand. And if you are wondering how I did in other chem classes, I got 2 A's and 1 B in Ochem. The only advice I can give is read his notes, not the book. My friends who only studied his notes did well.

Pretty hard class, and lectures are incredibly boring, but he's very helpful and accessible in office hours. Also the grading curve is pretty easy--I had a 65% and got a solid B. For the final--study the old exam because about 1/4 of the questions on our final were EXACTLY the same, word-for-word.

Wirz is very nice. Keep up on readings though or else you will die because chemestry in general is fast-paced. His class was not too bad for me, but if I spent more time I could have done better so its not his fault. Has practice exams and homework, and he has his own note book full of his lec. notes

He's so helpful when you try his office hours when it's not "test season." His lectures are pretty much filling in the reader. Face it gen Chem is not a favorite subject for a lot of us. I found Prof. Wirz really friendly and helpful. That's why I got 3 quarters of A's Oh and try his old exams

Hes a prestigious professor. He likes open ended questions on tests where your work is critiqued. I stuck with him for the entire series cause his curve is beautiful. i failed the final and 1 midterm each quarter and i always hada B+ in his class. Just practice his problems and study his notes. He is also very helpful and friendly!

i got all c's in the class but i didnt try too hard. chem1c was total hell though. i tried and lab took up more than 6 hours a week. got a 33% in class and the curve was crazy. ended up getting a c+. class average was 30% beware.
