Donna was a great professor for me. I am so glad to have met her and hope I will be able to take more of her courses soon. She taught me many things about sociology, as well as myself. She cares about her students, and is always available if extra help is needed.

Donna is a great teacher, connecting well with her students and acknowledging that they have a life outside of school. She does a midterm and take-home final test that if you review for, you should do perfectly well. Interesting class discussions make you want to keep coming to class! Anyone who puts in the effort will receive an A+ with Donna. She uses blackboard which I love. She is crystal clear about everything that's due or needs to be done and has straight forward comprehensive rubrics on blackboard for every assignment. She does expect a lot from you, but is completely reasonable with deadlines and gives reminders often.

How wonderful is she? Take the class and she'll let you know. E-mail works well but office hours are limited to none. I think that she is more concerned with shmoozing with management to have time to meet with her students. Sorry, but I would not reccomend this professor!

I took this class just to see what it was about and loved it and now I'm majoring in Soc. Prof. Bird is always very accessible for help , email, phone, time whatever, and just do the work and you'll be fine, she's got a great sense of humor too!

If you want an easy A and not have to work too hard take SOC 100J with Donna Bird. The breaks the concepts down into digestible bits so you don't have to do much studying on your own. Very clear about the material she expects you to know. Respect her and she'll respect you.
